Okay, I'll say it now, and I know most of you guys will agree to some extent; We all feel a sort of brotherhood to other Maxima owners, more so to those who have the same generation as ours; less to those who have an older generation; pure jealousy and sometimes loathing of the ones who have anything newer or nicer. But sometimes we just want to show off....
BUT anyways, my story is this: I'm driving down the road, listening to the raido and I notice the light ahead of me change from yellow to red. I slow down to a stop and I'm lookin around waitin for the light to change, and I notice this little white Maxima next to me, a third gen, just eyeing away at my car, and he looks up at me and actually revs the engine. Im thinkin, "He's got to be kidding. " And then I think, "Well, maybe it's supercharged or something." SO in response, I rev my engine up a little, made the nice intake growl :-)
So, the light turns green and instead of flooring it like he's expecting me to (I assumed), I just ease on the gas a little and get to a maintained 35 MPH. Meanwhile, the little boy is playing around a few hundred feet in front of me, getting farther and farther ahead. Then he changed lanes to get in front of me and even though he is still a ways up, I know he only changed lanes to get in front of me to show some sort of superiority. Ha Ha Ha. Then, I decided to show off what I had; now that he'd focused on himself, he could now focus on me.
I move over to the right lane and just flat out floor it. I mean, I loved that feeling when that tachy hits its high and you feel that G pressing you in, and I didnt even look over as I flew past him doin close to 90 and sailed into the left lane, in front of him.
Im guessing he knew he couldnt beat me, but that he just wanted to see my car perform, ive done it before too, just recently to a Z3 - and man, that car is fast!
So, anyway, just thought i'd share that story with ya, been it intentional or not, it was nice to show off a little. :-)

I'm not saying you should have raced the 3rd gen, but after thinking about your post, I suggest that it's difficult to *establish superiority* after a brief session of mere sabre rattling. The 3rd gen Max driver is probably in the process of posting: "That 2k Max was afraid to race me!" There was no blood drawn by either party, so neither may claim/report victory. Agreed?
