I'd say it comes down to the driver. Some of those NASA guys are up there in years and fall a asleep at the helm, so who knows. The mufflers on that shuttle are a great performance mod too, at least 50,000 lbs of thrust per if he's got the Greddys.

I say they set up a race around the moon and back, that'll settle the debate.

considering the maxima doesnt fly, you're going to have to race on the ground... if you want to move it on the ground.........

Ah, sure.. but you'll need fuel? dont think it will roll with the tanks... so that leaves you to push it... how many horsepower are you again?

Tim, light off the liquid fuel and see of the wheels roll. Roll or no roll, I'm quite certain the shuttle will be moving

So if we race the maxima and the shuttle wheels don't turn, it a race from a roll or from a skid?

stock or modded?

Shuttle comes with Michelin's stock. 02 has those damn Potenzas. So advantage goes to shuttle.

Is the shuttle fully loaded? and is the Max an auto?

Hmm...this is definitely gonna be close. Probably down to driver, yeah. Lemme model this in CarTest2000 to see which is favored

Shuttle is what... 1 speed? Max has a 6 speed... WHat kind of question is this.. I thought you moderators would know better. Have you not seen the Advertisement of the Maxima turning into a comet and running neck and neck with a fighter pilot?

Well, if that 2k2 commercial says anything about this question. I think the Max will win.

We all know those shuttle pilots tend to daydream about driving the Maxima all the time

Have you heard that NOS is now a co-sponsor of NASA? Look for NOS and type R stickers at the next launch. I heard they had problems until they moved to the 12.00" jet.

Yeah, and they got those damn humongus wings on the back end of the thing too! Total rice! Plus, the chassis dates back to the early '70's- way out of date in the handling department.

Speaking of Maxima commercials - remember the one about the UFO sightings at Roswell, NM? Everyone knows those UFOs (Maximas) travel faster than light so my guess is that the shuttle is gonna be TOASTED, especially if it looses some of those ceramic tiles on the hull prior to re-entry. (and we Maxima owners think we have problems with our paint chips!....)

I can't wait to get the carbon fiber front cap for my space shuttle. Also I have twenties on it too.

Like most flying things the 0-60 tims are slow but 60+ is fast. I think a saw(Speed Channel} a 2k2 vette beat a fighter jet to 60 by alot.

It was a Lingenfelter tuned TT Corvette and the jet was slightly slower than a fighter jet. Though it was a very remarkeable race to say the least

Those space shuttles are SLOW off the line. You would blow it away in the 1/4 mile. However, on the Milky highway, you'd be looking at taillights (do they have taillights?).

BUT...if you both started out in space and got a push towards the ground, I think it'd be fairly close...until you turned into a Maximelt.

Actually we could probably take it in the quater mile seeing as how long it takes to actually gain momentum from T = 0
