15.3? Don't worry about mods, learn how to drive your car first. Assuming you drive an automatic, there's this thing called 3rd gear on your shifter. Wait till about 70 mph or 5000rpms and kick that shifter over to 3rd.

15.3 w/a stock automatic isn't THAT bad to me. Being in the 16s is bad. The best I achieved my 1st time drag racing (on a pretty hot day) was 15.314. I got it down to about 15.15 the next time I went, and most recently, my best was 15.009.

I don't do burnouts or torque brake.

On your last point, what do you mean? Are you saying that the auto transmission upshifts into fourth at a certain speed and that you should downshift? I haven't counted the shifts to see if that's the case, but how would that differ from just racing in 3 the whole time?

What was your 60' time? You can easily run 15.3 if you are not hitting it hard off the line. You got to do a burnout, as best you can with fwd, and torque brake some. I ran a 2.187 60' and a 14.769 with my stock automatic GXE leaving it in 3rd. This was in 86 degree temperatures too.

Hitting it hard from zero I did get some wheel hop. We need a solution to wheel hop and we should be seeing some 2.0 60' times stock with 14.5 ets.

i hit a 15.333 bone stock in my 2000 se. stock tires rims 3/4 tank of gas and all. if you get a y pipe u might as well do the full cat back exhaust and intake to get rid of all the bottle necks.

For gains on the 2k2 - wait about another week or so. Another org member has a set of pipes (Y & B) being shipped to him (manufacturer being left un-named) and he should be receiving them early this week. I should be getting my set in about a week or so. We both plan to do track/dyno testing to record our gains. We'll both be posting the results shortly - so don't go spending any money on a custom job just yet. Hang tight and look for more posts on the 2k2 y-pipe topic to come shortly.

bone stock 2k2 SE 14.66 @ 93. I did no burnout and my 60' time was 2.221. 15.33 is not terrible but you should see 14's if you stall the car at about 1500 and have decent traction. what was your 60' time on the 15.3 run?

Take your spare and jack out of the car as well as everything else in the rear that you might have laying around, have no more than 1/4 tank of gas, rear tire air pressure about 40 psi, front 25 psi. Move the passenger seat all the way forward, drivers seat as far forward as you can stand it and make sure your factory air filter is clean. When you get to the line, do as good burn out as you can. Hold the emergency brake hard and hit the accelerator hard to get the tires spinning. Go around the water with radials. Torque brake it to about 1500 rpm. When you leave, nail it as hard as you can. With any luck you will only get wheel hop and traction will be pretty good. This is how I ran my 2.187 60' except I had about 29 psi in my tires which is probably a little too much.

Ok when I went to LACR with is a horrible track my best time was a 15.2 @90mph. My 60 ft was a 2.370. Some people say to take off .7 of your time but some people say even up to a second. So I dont know. Im going to the track again this friday to see if taking the cat out and replacing it with a straight pipe made a difference.

Huh maybe. But I hate that track every number that comes on the time slip is not corrected. I want to go to Carlsbad and see what times I get there cause that place is at sea level.
