Fuel Injector Flush

I have about 23,000 on my 2002 SE and it is in the shop for some repairs. While it is there, the tech told me that Nissan recommends an injector flush every 20-25000 miles. With a $40 off coupon, it'll run about $106. Is this necessary and is it a fair price. I don't remember seeing anything about an injector flush in the manual. Is he trying to take me? A quick response would be great because I need to let him know in about 15 Minutes.

Read your owner's manual, there's probably no such recommendation. Do you use premium brand name gasoline? If so, your injectors are probably fine. You can add a bottle of BG44K to your tank for less than $20.

I use a bottle of concentrated Techron about every 2k miles, and that seems to help as well..

i've heard that those fuel injector cleaners, likewise, octane boost, oil additives are not recommended. They end up doing more damage than harm, even though they claim otherwise. (ie: will not harm catalytic converters)

BG44K is the best, but you don't use it very often. You can pick it up at almost any dealership or good auto parts stores and repair shops. Pep Boys and the such don't carry it.

FYI,

if you use chevron gas, the techron additive is included.

Its good stuff, just wish there were chevron stations in my area.
