Maxspeed springs & stock shocks = bad tire wear?

I installed Maxspeed springs with stock shocks in May along with OZ 17x8 rims and new Kumho 712's (235x45). I had the car aligned at the same time and kept an eye on inflation. Except for a little bounce due to shocks a bit weak for the new springs, I was very pleased with the new look and the handling. Now 3 months and 1 tire rotation later all 4 of my tires are feathered on the outside edges (somewhat on the inside) and the car sounds like a 4x4 coming down the road. It's infuriating. Any chance the stock shocks coupled with stiffer/lower springs simulated worn suspension and caused the VERY premature tire wear? Thanks for any info.

From what i gathered here, alignment should have been done a couple of weeks after spring installation - this will give your suspension time to settle in.

Chances are, after installation the alignment was fine. But after settling in the alignment might have changed a bit.

However, what you say about all 4 tires having uneven wear is confusing me just a bit. I always thought, if any, that only the front would have uneven wear given that the rears can't be adjusted as far as alignment goes.

Perhaps it's the way the rims were installed?

How many miles do you have on your 2K? If its a little high, replace the struts. I have a 2K2 w/Maxspeeds with no problems yet. (Knock on wood). And yes, I'm running on stock struts.

My Kuhmos did this too. No offense, but Kuhmos are crap.

I know this doesn't help you, but I'd put blame on the tires. I hate Kuhmos.

Just under 33K miles at the moment. I bought the Kumho's based on good reviews at TireRack. They aren't Pilot Sports but certainly this kind of wear is out of the ordinary - even for Kumho's.

My rommate drives a C43 Mercedes with 18" Brabus wheels wrapped with Kumhos and he is getting bad tire wear on all 4 tires. How many miles do you have on the Kumhos?

Mine lasted less than 20,000 miles before MAJOR wear occurred. They are complete junk. Get some Nittos (if you live in a dry area). Otherwise, some Michelins would be cool......

Not that. I double-checked with OZ to confirm that I got the correct offset and bolt pattern prior to purchase. I'm beginning to believe the tires may in fact be the problem.

Was just informed by Kumho that the tire pressure NTB told me to run (29/29) was way too low for my application. Apparently I should have been running 38-40psi with my 235/45-17's on 17x8 rims. I guess that would explain at least some of the wear. It looks like I'll have to suck it up and live with these as long as I can. I just HATE loud tires...

The tires will only get louder. Go do some burnouts in the parking lot and buy some Nittos.

You should about ready for new shocks and struts. They die slowly you'd be amazed how the ride feels on new ones. I don't have any experience with Kumho's but I'll take every one elses word that they suck. I will tell you I liked my Nitto's.

i heard the nitto 555's are geared more toward track than street, and they might be loud. but that's just what i've heard. i personally like the way the tire looks and the price is reasonable.

I am running Kumhos on stock suspension for 7K miles already and knock on wood, dont have that kind of a problem. Your tire wear may depend on your driving style as well, if you like taking those corners fast, you'll get more outer wear.

Due to my past experience, I would not take my car for alignment to NTB.

Your Kuhmos are alos a week old. After about 15K-20K, mine were very loud- AND worn.

My issue is that I wake up at 4AM no matter how late or early I go to bed- or how much Benadryl or Ny Quil I take the night before either.

Try sleep aid and Nyquil together. Or Alchahol and Nyquil. When I used to work at Home Depot I was forced to do that so I could go to sleep.

I don't think it's very healthy though
