Ok so what are you USING to CLEAN THE DASHBOARD....

I wipe the dashboard down first w/ Plege Grab~It wipes. Now I need to know whats the best cleaner out there that wont damage my dash....I heard Armor-All can damage your dash by fading the color & within time cracking it??? (not sure how true this is)....

But went to auto part store & these's are the cleaners I saw....Armor-All, Black Magic Vinyl Cleaner, Meguilar's Vinyl/Rubber Cleaner, Vinylex (I believe made by Lexol).....thats it I think. Which ones do you use?

P.S. - On my last car I used NuVinyl (made by NuFinish) which was more of a lotion instead of a spray & it was great....but I dont see it stores now??? Did they discontinue this product? Thanks

Meguilar's Vinyl/Rubber Cleaner. Works like a charm! Smells good too. Good thing about it is that it's not too oily like Armor-All, but gives a good coat of finish.

I use Armor All multi-purpose car cleaner. I make sure to wipe it off after cleaning with a damp rag. Almost any cleaner will damage the pastic if not cleaned off properly and/or if your car sits out in the sun very much. I don't put any protectant on cause I can't stand the glare in the florida sun. Also, most 'protectants' are like suntan oil you put on to get a tan. To create that shine, they use compounds which reflect a good deal of sunlight. Each molecule acts like a lens which magifies and reflects the light in different directions -- including at the plastics in the dash. Not good long term, IMHO. Some of these protectants have UV inhibitors which are just a band aid for the problem.

i agree with taiwan...

Meguiar's vinyl/rubber protectant..red bottle. Smells good, last a long time, not greasy...I apply with a cotton round pad (miniature looking buffer bonnet)..

KP, I have been using Vinylex on my dash for a while and I love it. The main thing I like about it is that it has a pretty high UV protection. Another is that it is not greasy since it is more of a water based protectant.

i just wipe it down with a damp cloth. i mean, it's plastic, it's pretty much gonna last forever unless i park it in the desert...

the real reason is cause i don't want it to glare back at me, so i don't use anything that might give it a shine.

303 Aerospace Protectant is good too. It's water based and contains no silicone.

Does the Meguiars stuff actually clean the plastic? I used the Vinylex to try and get these 2 lines of black marks on my dash and it didn't do much to get them out. Which of the aforementioned products will actually help me get the marks out by really cleaning?

I don't use the Vinylex for leather seats. I have the Lexol Leather Cleaner and conditioner for that purpose. Tell ya what. Hit me on the cell phone and I can arrange to get you a sample of Vinylex since I have a 3L bottle (I use it to dress my tires).
