2k2 20,000 Mile Report
Well, its been 1 year for my 2002 Maxima GLE, I have to say its been a great year at that. The only things that I've had to take care of under warranty was the 6cd changer and recalls. I noticed some rotor warpage around 18,000 miles and took it to the dealer "CROWN NISSAN OF ST. PETERSBURG Florida", techs said they were out of round and turned them for me FREE under warranty -- no more shaking when braking. I also got new tires since I have burned these out many times and theres about 18% tread left. These Bridgestone Turanzas are a bit antsy in the rain, so I got some FALKEN AZENIS ST-115 and bought up my tire size from 215-55-17 to 235-45-17 and all I can say is WOW!! A quiet tire for a 45 series and it GRIPS LIKE CRAZY!! It still maintains a 360 tread rating. All in all my maxima is still the best, at 20,000 miles its still running as smooth as ever.

Sounds good I'm right behind you at 18,350mi It's nice to see that there is somebody else out there geting the same gas milage I am. When I test drove my Max I was at 12.5mpg October will be my baby's 1 year b-day. I think I will buy her some wheel spacers for the rear wheels. I think she will like that.

Did you have all your "regularly scheduled maintaince" done at your Nissan dealership, or did you take it elsewhere? I've read some threads here recounting horror stories of their local dealers and I'm contemplating bringing mine to a local mechanic that I trust vs. the dealer (Unless it's warranty work, or course. I've only got ~5,000 miles on my 2k2.).

Yous guys are really racking up the miles. Mine has all of 11,800 and will be 1 year old at the end of September. No problems so far, except a bad O2 sensor to be changed under warranty.
What kinda driving are you guys doing to put 30,000 miles on a car in one year?

as for regular maintanance... I goto my trusted mechanic, and get oil changes every 2,500 miles. Im doing a trans flush at 25,000 miles. I only goto the dealer for warranty and major service intervals, ie. 15,000 miles, 30,000 miles etc.
same here!

car will be 1 yr old at the end of oct, and I just 20k mark this past weekend. So far, I went in for all the services (EXPENSIVE), and sunroof, cd player (still not here), MAF (my fault), and some recalls and TSBs. other than that (long list), everything else is running fine

Weekend and other mileage varies since I like to go on pleasure drives every now and then.

Commuting mileage: 28.1 each way which equates to 56.2/day. multiply that times 5 and you have 281 miles per week. Multiply that times 4 and you have 1124 miles per month.
The Max is strictly for play time.

My commute is: 70 each way which equates too 140/day. If you take that times 5 you get 700 miles per week. Multiply that times 4 and you get 2800 miles per month...which are put on my 91 Ford Explorer.

For others of us, the commute becomes the play time. I play in the Max during the week and weekend nights, but the truck for hauling and weekend day romping.

My commute is only temporary. My Explorer is 12 years old and getting near to being retired from service. Once my contract gig is up I am either moving closer to work or getting a job closer to me so I can drive the max daily.
Hopefully I will be replacing the Explorer with a Murano.

"2002 Maxima SE" is smart, high mileage slaughters the value of new cars. For example, go to kbb.com and look at the trade-in value of a base SE 2k2 with 12k vs. 32k. The values are over $3k apart. Ouch!

Nevermind the fact that some of us really don't intend to trade anytime soon so the long term mileage effects on value are even less significant...
As in many things, to each his own...

Assuming, of course you care about trade in...a number of us want to get our 'fun value' out of a vehicle we are paying for anyway!!!
