Insert uproarious laughter here

My nephew just bought a 2003 Excursion 4wd with a V10. Recently, he just added the JET chip to it (bumped said truck over its stock 410 hp) and is about to purchase the Ram Air intake for it. He states that his truck with its modifications can beat my Maxima.

Is it safe to assume I will own his a$$ when I run him at Rte. 66 Raceway on a Test and Tune session?

Short of a Lightning/Harley Davidson Edition F150, there are no trucks we need to worry about.

Uh, unless they set the course up with gravel, mud pits and loose dirt hills...then the 4x4 would shine!!!

Ok. On dry pavement, short of a Lightning/HD F150, there are no trucks we need to worry about.

Tearing up the countryside chasing down deer with a beer in your free hand while screaming to your buddy "Hooooweeee - Wees gonna git him!" - better get a 4x4 truck.

When the mood hits, I take the Ram out and its a whole different world...

I thought one of the Dodge Dakota RTs were fast? The Jeep WUV 5.8 liter is pretty fast too. Then there is the Cyclone/Typhoon GM thingies. Not trucks perse but you know

I have to tell you, I've always secretly wanted to go crashing through mud pits and scambling up hills in some outrageous 4x4. Looks like lots of fun.

Re: Re: Re: Insert uproarious laughter here

I don't think the Dodge's are that fast, in the 7's I believe. There's a Dodge SRT that I've heard about, with the V10 from the viper, but I'm not sure if they are out on the street yet.

The Cherokee with the 5.9 has a pretty good 0-60, but its still only in the low 7's. People get caught because they tires, where as the Cherokee has the advantage of 4wd.

Cyclone/Typhoon were pretty quick, but not in production anymore and to be honest, I've never personally seen one, so I think they were fairly rare.

Those times should be a pretty close race for an Auto 2000-2001 5-gen though.

The Typhoon and Cyclone are rare but I do see either one about once a month though.

A buddy of mine used to own a Cyclone, and he would run in the mid 13's, those things get amazing traction cuz they are AWD. Now he is driving a 'vette with a 150 shot of Nitrous. Some people get to have all the fun.

Man, this is seems like a major waste of gas to me, but if he wants to get his a$$ spanked, fine by me. He had just better not go crying to his wife (or any other members of the family) when I clean his clock.

BTW, I now have someone at my church who just bought a new Monte Carlo SS and is talking yang as well. When will they learn?

Disclaimer: I am not dissing Excursions or Monte Carlos in any way. My aim here is to shut two trash talking individuals up in a humiliating fashion. Therefore, don't even think about flaming me or starting Excursion v. Maxima or Monte Carlo v. Maxima wars.

Yeah, I didn't know that the '03 HD was supercharged. One got damn close to beating me the other night. Some damn redneck in his new truck with his name on the leftside of the rear window and his 'girls' name of the rightside of the rear window. I love Dallas, but sometimes Texas kills me!

Auto.

Like I said, I think this is a tremendous waste of gas because I am confident that I will blow him out the weeds.

But I will admit that if I ever decided to get one of those behemoths, I would get the PowerStroke Diesel variant. I went to FordExcursions.com and found some interesting mods for those boats including superchargers.

My friend has a cyclone- that sucker is fast! But as far as fast trucks go, did anyone else see the Lingfelter Chevy C3 in C&D a couple years ago? It did 0-60 in the sub 5 second range- with 4WD and an auto! Imagine- 4WD burnouts in a truck. It was totally stock looking as well, so be carefull.

Maybe they just aren't very common in Canada.

I do recall reading an article way back when where they put a Cyclone (or maybe a Typhoon) against some Ferrari, maybe a 308, for the 1/4 mile. Cyclone won.

No gun rack?

The first HD were nothing to worry about, but the latest one is basically a Lightning.

I doubt he will beat you but there is a Navigator running around houston that does 11's on gas lol. Seen it myself at Houston raceway park I think he owns a wheelshop and lives in my neighborhood. But no doubt the Navi he has is murder.

Yeah look out for those pickup sleepers. My buddy had a custom truck in high school, SC'd V8, like 600 hp or some insane thing. He'd burn out and you could pick up the burning piles of rubber afterwards.

it's funny to me. i read this thread yesterday. and
today i'm coming home on the freeway with a dodge dakota
in front of me. in front of him was this little *** civic.
the civic pulls out of the left lane leaving it to the dodge
and myself. he took off from about 65. he gets 3 or 4
carlegnths in front of me. then i punch it. i caught him
passed him, and gave him the shaka out of the window.

Ok, I'm gonna be the **** one here....it's spelled Syclone not Cyclone.

http://carpoint.msn.com/vip/usedover...&model=Syclone

It's a bad truck, one of my friends has one. Off the line doesn't feel much different than a standard S-10, but once that turbo spools up man oh man it flies.

Actually, the scariest truck is Lingenfelter's 427cid S-10. The 0-60 times on that thing were in the high 3 second range.

i remember reading about that thing in my C&D. 3.8 seconds to be exact, and it had twin turbos if I remember correctly. But for having such a low 0-60 time, it sure had a bad 1/4 mile time, I think somewhere in the 12's.

If you won't then I will. The new MC weigh in at nearly 3400lbs and runs 180HP or 200HP in the SS model. Weren't they running that in the 80's with the G-body? IMO they should not have brought it back if they weren't going to give it the necessary HP to match today's cars.

Run them both and try to be nice afterwards.
