2002 ECM Upgrade?
2002 ECM Upgrade?
I just called my dealer to set up an appointment for my new O2 sensor to be installed. Long story short, they did not have the sensor and had to order it. Well, the dealer says that I am scheduled for an ECM flash as well. I asked if it was an upgrade to the existing ECM code and he said, "Yes.". Anyone know anything about this? I am guessing that the reason my O2 fouled was due to an ECM error and this will correct it.

Anything happen with this? I am curious to know if there is an ECM update for 2K2. Also, if you received the flash, did you notice any change in engine performance?

Weird. I think the parameters for emissions were real tight, so that if the O2 was off by a degree it would set of the SES light. The car appears to handle the same. I would like to find out exactly what changed though because my dealer was grasping at straws.

I wish! Well, it must be important. I went in on a Saturday to get the O2 and reflash. They had a problem downloading the reflash from Nissan so they just changed the O2 and sent me on my way WITHOUT resetting the SES. I asked them if they could reset it and do the reflash later and they said, "No". I asked what the reflash was for and they said they THINK that some of the parameters were to tight and Nissan loosened them up. I asked if the old ECU code might foul my O2 sensor again before I had the reflash and he said, "No".
