An eye for an eye??

If you see someone who has dented your car or chipped your paint by opening a door can you get back at them? I'm so utterly p*ssed off today! Two days, and the right side of my car seems to have become a door stop for inconsiderate a**h*les at work (or maybe somewhere else I parked). Do any of you do take a glance at your car before you get in? I'm gonna start walking all the way around from now on, and I swear if I find my paint on someone's door, my keys are gonna find it hard to stay away from their rear fender and all the way up the side of the car to the side view mirrors. Maybe this isn't the right way, but I am getting extremely annoyed at people who just don't seem to care about respecting the property of others. Anyone else share my rage? Sorry for being such a devil about this, but 2/2 isn't what I was looking for this week... oh.. and NJ seems to want to tax everything.. guess who had to pay taxes on their car twice? Once initally and then once after taking someone's name off the title... thanks for letting me vent.

Bring your 110v AC mig welder to work next time(with an inverter). Next time you catch someone dinging your door, put a few spot welds on the door/body and weld the door shut. No more door dings.

Wait, how about a thin strip of metal and some "liquid nails"?? That would be ALOT easier.

Ahh.. an interesting idea... I figure keying the car from bumper to bumper would be just as nice... a little note would be nice too.. or a kick to their door panel, maybe a broken window.. maybe that will teach them..

Ahhh. Vandalism- a subject near and dear to my heart.

Brake cleaner. Spray it everywhere. On the rims. On the body. Just anywhere BUT the brakes.

I prefer to think of it as vengeance...

the original a-hole who did the dinging is the vandal (regardless of whether it was intentional or not)...

I do a walk-around of my car before I got in. One time I found a buick parked really close my my max and there was a baby seat in the back (I knew something's wrong) then I found car paint on my rear door and a dent right next to the handle. I was mad but there was nothing I could do.....I already did my best to protect my max and the buick driver could say whatever he/she wanted.

but I popped out the dent fromt inside.....

Depends what kind of mood I'm in.
I'm sure it was an accident and the person feels bad
about it...
I bet it's only a small percentage that are inconsiterate and fk with
someone's car.
End the cycle of hate..figure this...You notice a chip on your door, you're ****ed so you dent his door..maybe it wasn't that car..now that person sees the dent and he's **** off enough to dent the car that pulled into your spot..and so on.
bad karma

true, but it is precisely the 'accidental' ones that **** us off the most...blatant vandals should just be shot on sight...the "accident" excuse is just plain bull****!!!! They should exercise caution at all times and not just throw doors open, have slimy little inconsiderate rug rats jumping in and out of cars and carts, etc.

But then you need to start the generator get your visor out then make the welds it's a lot of work. Those welds can be cut and the flashing will definitely **** the next guy they door ding even worse.

Hows this? Just keep some JB Weld in your glove box, and maybe some contact cement for the door handle.

I'm not trying to spread bad karma; far be it for me to approach a situation before fully analyzing it... I'll check the guys doors, if I find paint, he'll find his car keyed up... if not, he lives happily ever after... I'm not tryin to start a vandalism chain, I just want people to start respecting other people's property... if you like your car, you don't wanna be driving around with chips in your paint (although Nisaan doesn't seem to understand that point, and probably never will).

This guy I worked with once spit on my car as I was driving away after work. Well, the week before I bought this really cool fire extuingisher at a garage sale. It could be filled with ANY liquid substance. The thing was huge- like 5 times the size of regular extinguishers.

I filled it up with cheap coke and root beer and I sprayed down his entire car in the blistering heat. You should have seen the look on his face when he walked up to the car. Completely sticky from bumper to bumper.

Don't forget if you key someones car after then ding you they might not even know why they were keyed. You need to let them know why they were keyed. Or welded By keying in "Thanks for the door ding A$$HOLE"

An eye for an eye??

Well...i bought my max used so it already had a few dings, scratches and a nice little dent on the front passenger side door. so being used.... i mean pre-owned i didn't think i would get upset if someone dinged my door or parked to close to me.

Well i found myself parking when i could, off to myself, u know where, those spots not so close to the entrance. Well.................. one day in my not so close to the entrance parking space, when i got back to my max i found someone parked like a few inches away from my drivers side door.

I know who ever did this did it on purpose, because it was only like open spaces around me everywhere. Quote!..Me!!! WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD U PARK Y'R *** NEXT TO AND THAT CLOSE WHEN ALL OF THESE SPACES ARE OPEN, OPEN ****IT I MEAN OPEN!!!!!!

well, pre-owned or new u love what u love. and i hope that idiot likes his new color-matched pinstripes.

this might not have help u, maybe it did. but boy its nice to share like experiences. i know we are not suppose to get upset/vindictive about such things but u know i don't like having to get into my car from the passenger side.

thanks

Dude, that is hilarious. I testimate to Coke or some sugar based cola on my car in the 100 degree + Dallas heat. Three hours it took to get it all off.

I share the pain

I have a 2K and I've been really careful. But $hit happens. Can't really prevent them. So the best thing to do is have a few scratched down pennies handy and take a walk around the perpatrator. I also heard using brake fluids DOT 3 works well with paint too. You can create a collage on their car too hehehehe. I know this is childish. But these mo fos deserves it, cuz they don't respect other people's properties. I do what Step2kmax does too and find some remote parking. But for some reason Maxima is like a magnet for ppl to park next to even though there are plenty of spaces. Now those people deserves a more extreme payback. I don't believe in deflating the tires, cuz what if these idiots don't check and just hop on and drive off and crashes. I can't have that on my conscience. I would at least disable the car so he'll know that something is wrong with the tires. That's my 2 cents.

vandalism is bad, m-kay?
</mr mackey>

but is it *really* vandalism if you don't do any damage? How about a 50 cent stem puller, and yank all the stems out of the tires so they deflate all the way. You really didn't do any damage... but like someone said, they might not know why it happened so you'll have to leave a note... "sorry to see someone deflated your tires because you dinged the paint on his door"

What stinks, is when you take your car to NYC, stay at a $300+ a night hotel, pay $40 a day for parking and wind up with nice looking chips (both sides) on your molding. The worst thing is, you know they are parking the cars an inch away from each other, but don't have a choice! I love the city, but it is a car killer!

You all know this is covered under your insurance, don't you? Vandalism/Malicious Mischief is covered under Comprehensive/Othe than collision. Do you realize for a small dent in your door, most insurance companies will just replace the door. Believe me, I know...I'm a licensed agent in NY. So when you go to get even with the other driver, it doesnt really do any good, since they can get it fixed for the cost of their deductible. Just my 2 cents.

Speaking from a perspective from a person who just picked up their new 03 Max last week, I've never found myself so "die-hard" fanatical about where I park, who I park next to, am I willing to walk far, even in terrential down pour rain, etc. I believe part of keeping your car out of harms way is by simply avoiding the unexpected "accidents" waiting to happen by idiots out there who don't give a crap. Of course, this isn't always full proof, but I think helps.

When I still had my 01 Altima, I wasn't as cautious as I am now with the Maxima, and strange enuff, never had that many problems or worries (probably because the altima was smaller) like I do now. Out of courtesy though, if I'm in a parking lot where there are alot of open spaces, but shopping carts everywhere, I'll move as many carts away from both my car, and even other cars around as possible. Usually, I'll just push them up on a curb to the point where they can't move or roll back. It's a pain yes, but another reason to not have to worry as much or EVEN WORSE, be disappointed when you come back and see a dent, ding, or scratch on your car.

I've done it the first week i bought my car. Im coming back from a club and I see a civic backed all the way into my bumper. My bumper was literally dented in a lil. Im like "Nobody messes with my new max" I grab a key and added an extra sports stripe on the side of the door. As we all know that will ed an extra 20 hp to that carjust like all the stickers he had.

Alot of you "tough guys" could get in real trouble if the owners catch you in the car. It's one thing if you face an old grandma but what if you pick on the wrong guy? Oh, sure you are all 6'5" 250lbs, right? What if the guy is a cop, a lawyer or a DA? How would you handle him? Don't be boneheads, just follow the simple rule: Don't do to others what you don't want done to you! Otherwise, the cycle of stupidity will never be broken.

Re: An eye for an eye??

Um, yeah. I have a hunch here. I'm guessing the age demographic of the people who would key someone's car because that person dinged their's, is pretty young. I only say this because most adults do not act that irrationally. Sure, adults that live in trailer parks, maybe, but adults that drive 20+ thousand dollar cars tend to act a little more civilized.

Anywho, there is simply no excuse for vandalizing someone's car. I don't care if they dinged yours or not. I have seen insurance threads on this board. Some of you, (guessing the younger ones) are paying a ton for your insurance. Use it, genius.

Also, use your head. When you go to WalMart, park as far away as possible. You won't be the only one. Park next to the Benz in the far corner of the lot. He will not likely ding your car. And you two will probably be the only ones in the vicinity. Most of WalMart's fat greasy shopping mass of humanity will drive around for thirty minutes waiting for a spot next to the door to open up. If you park between a '83 Zephyr, and a '85 Bronco, you just might be parked between two people who don't really care about your car.

But then you could pour Coke on their car. I guess.

Stop being a part of the problem and start being a part of the solution. This, of course, is going require you to grow up.

Re: Re: An eye for an eye??

Well said!

When I had my 2k GXE I used to park wherever I could get a spot at work and these people would pull as close as possible (or so it seemed) and fling their doors open. I know it was people at work because I never had any problems before working there (dings in the door moldings). I did not take revenge because I believe you should do unto others ....etc. (By the way this was an off rental car and had a few bumps and bruises anyway.

Now that I have my new 2k2 I park in a spot near a stairwell that has one spot and then a half spot with diagonal lines. I park so there is at least a half space between me and someone else parked in the next space.

My point (finally huh!) is avoiding possible damage is a lot better and more mature than revenge for something that could possibly be avoided. Like the Walmart example above if you love your car that much be concious of where you park and don't worry about the long walk in the parking lot. Exercise is good for wverybody!

I'm not proud of myself for having done it, but when I park my car in the corner of a huge rec center parking lot and come out to see a damn minivan parked next to it, (when there are countless other spaces available) I'm definitely letting them know I didn't appreciate it.

I got hit in my 99' and Progressive didn't replace my door.

How does the deductable work on comp. claims? And does a new door lower the value of the car like any repaint?

I check when I park and when I get back. I usually park far away from everyone. God help the first person that gives me a door ding.

My last car got one. I was on the 5th floor of a building and I saw the person do it. I hauled butt down the steps but the person got away, lucky for them.

After 2 years of no dents, last week, I got one. NOticed it right away as I did my walk around. Yup, I walk around. And once this old lady walked by me after I parked and basically rubbed her bag on my driver side and proceeded to opend her door and rest it on my door with me in the car. And of course I can hear the squeeking noise of her car moving as she got in up against my car. I should have said something, but instead I looked at her when I got out and looked at my car. No scratches, so I lst it go. If there was I probably would have said something. Talk about inconsiderate!
