2000+ front seats...

I just test drove a 2003 SE 6 speed (majestic blue/black leather) and was blown away by the comfy seats! Are the seats the same for all 5th gen max's?

I'm looking to pick up the front set for my 97 max.

No, pre-2002 is not the same.

No they are not. The 2001 Anniversary Edition seats are a perforated leather.

As far as comfort, poeple have said the leather feel is better on 2002-2003 but not sure about the actual butt/back feel...

yeah, the leater feel on the 2003 does seem very HQ...

But I would be getting the seats re-done in leather to match the rest of my car.

So is the actual shape (butt/back) different b/t 2000-2003? Is there differences in cloth and leather seats? If I can get that seat in cloth and get my custom leater done, that would be sahweet

The whole seat is a different design the 2002/03 are more stylish and are a larger seat. The seat bottom is totally different the headrest as well as the seat back. Leather on the 02/03 is a slightly better quality, cloth seems similiar with different prints. Overall the 02/03 seats look more luxurious more similiar to 3rd gen GXE's seats/feel/appearance wise than any more recent Maximas.

So if I got a set of 2002 cloth seats, had them redone in leather, it should be the same as the leather seats in the Max I just test drove?

Well, I was going to have my whole car done by catzkins.com. The back seats are in semi-rough shape. I have a 97, and the seats suck! I loved the ones in the 2k3 max I drove, so I figured if I could find some at a junkyard, get them recovered like I was going to do anyways, I'd be very pleased. Thats why I was hopin' I could save $$ by buying cloth seats cause I'm getting them redone. That is, if the 2k2-2k3 seats are the same no matter if they're leather or cloth. See what I'm sayin? I have back problems, and how comfortable a seat is really matters to me. So if I can get 2k2 seats in my 97, I'll be able to hold on to the car until I can buy a new one

The 02-03 seats have a different shape and cushioning to it, than the 00-01. I don't know if the leather in the 02-03 is any better, but most of it isn't leather anyways. The majority of it is still pleather. I think you have the right idea with getting custom leather. That's what I plan to do.

As long as its the same shape/cushioning on all 2k2-2k3 seats, I'll look for some cloth seats and give leatherseats.com a call I almost want to skip other mods just because I know how much this will improve my 45+ commute to work everyday!
