have you talked to Fred V
I've had good luck with him. The last few times he had one of the service techs (I believe his name is Steve) come out and look at the problem.
Clearly the check engine light should be resolved.
The steering wheel warmer is another issue. I'll try mine in the middle of the day and get back to you to see if it will go on. If it does then clearly the thermostat issue isn't real.

My Steering wheel warmer comes on for about 10 min and it wont come on again, no matter how cold the wheel gets unless I let the car sit for a couple of hours. I would think it would stay on the whole time until I decide to turn it off, just like the heated seats.

Ive messed with mine a few times and at first I didn't think it was working either, but I did feel it just a little. It says in the manual that after 10 min it shuts off, I think. I guess once the wheel's warm theres no need for it to remain on. In any case I think the temp coming from it is very mild and we should wait until the winter months to determine how well it really is doing its job.
guys...I dealt with this back in December when I got my new max. I thought something was wrong with it, too. when you first get in the car, it will warm for approx. 10 minutes then shut off. It can not be turned back on for about an hour or more, but by that time, it really has done it's job anyway. It's not meant to be a constant source of heat...and I doubt if any of you have arthritic joints. It does get very hot...almost too hot. If you don't want it on during the cycle, just flip the switch to off. But remember, it will not reheat for quite some time afterwards. I'm sure it is a protective measure to probably maintain the life of the covering on the wheel. But to be honest, once it has cycled through once, the car is already nice and toasty and I don't need it on any more.
Hope that helps!
