good gnews on the Auto Climate bulbs..
good gnews on the Auto Climate bulbs..
For those with 2k's with auto climate controls and burned out bulbs (half of the buttons lit), its a pretty simple fix.
Some of you said the dealer wanted $$$ for the whole unit. Well, thats old and busted... the new hotness is calling DaveB and ordering a ~$3 bulb. It used to be considered a sealed unit, but now Nissan is supplying bulbs only.
After taking precautions you would for working with something that will scratch easily (face of unit) and doesnt like static (the board inside), you simple remove the 4 screws and the back comes off. There are two tabs, but it *carefully* slides apart. You will be looking at the back of a circuit board.. there are 3 or 4 round blue plastic parts. this is the backside of the bulb. They turn slighly and come right out. Dave shows 4 bulbs, mine only had three.
20 min job tops. Obviously I'm not responsible if you cheese yours up doing this, but I found it to be a pretty Fisher Price level fix. I cant speak for 2k1 or 2k2s.
As usual, Dave saves the day.. well, I actually threw away two days at the dealer before asking Dave about the part.
You can call him, but they are out of stock right now. Just let me get my bulbs first
the part number is #27545MA note: the A is very important, without the A is a different bulb.

My climate-control lights just went out behind the "mode" and recirculate buttons. Can you point me to a "how to" for getting the unit out of the dash to then follow you instructions above for bulb replacement?
disconnect negative battery term. *carefully* remove radio and cage. You should follow the radio removal directions about protecting the dash. Take your time with the connectors, especially on the AC unit. They arent nearly as tough as the radio connectors
You have to get the climate control out of the cage. Dont bend the cage alot or your radio wont look straight when you reinstall.
You'll find four screws on the unit. Be sure to protect the face while working on the back.
The unit comes apart into two pieces. take care to be grounded. Find a flat head screw driver that can turn the bulbs out. Be really careful here. Dont slip with the screw driver and gouge the board or anything..
You will be looking at the back of the circuit board and the back of the bulbs. They go thru the board. You will recognize them from the pics below.
its not hard really.. I would replace all 4 while in there. I had two go out at roughly the same time.

call Dave B, he had stock last week... as I recall they were 2 something each. He also knows exactly what bulbs you will be wanting, unlike every dealer in a 100 sq mile radius of me.
Re: good gnews on the Auto Climate bulbs..
This is the post I was waiting for!!! Mine was out for months now..when i went to the dealer, they said i would have to order the bulb at about $150 !WTF!plus labor. So i said fugit..left it half of the climate contro looking ghetto.
But i still have no clue of how to remove the radio & the climate control. And the cheesy carbon dash doesn't help either. I need to know where can order the bulb? i don't wanna go back to my dealer. They're nuthin but theives
