Dark maxima letters on trunk not chrome?

I would swear I have seen graphite or flat black Maxima letters on some trunks, I removed my chromed ones and think the darker ones would look much better on the Titanium color. What did these dark letters come on, model/color...anyone know??? Thanks.

Anyone have pictures of these installed on any 5th Gen. silver based color??? I have Polished Titanium, and would be interested to see what they look like against a silver color. Also, what does the dealer charge for the emblems?

you know, i don't remember seeing those emblems on any other car except the blue 20th anniversary se....that car with the black interior had those emblems to match the tinted headlights and blacked out interior...maybe exclusive to that color combo only.

My black AE with frost interior has the black chrome emblems. Maybe they were exclusive to AE's. I can't remember what the regular SE's look like. Maybe look at some member's web sites.

You have a Titanium color or the 1999 Sterling Mist?? The Titanium color wasn't available until 2002 or 2003.

If you can get your hands on the MAXIMA letters for the 1999 SE-Limited Edition those are Titanium in color and go perfect with the Sterling Mist color which I believe your refering to as your cars color.

It's a 00-01 SE or 01 AE thing. My 01 SE has them - but if you look at the 00-01 GLEs or GXEs they don't.

My car and color is in my sig......
I called my local dealer and asked for black chrome Maxima letters for the trunk (off a 2000 se) and he quoted me $26.00, I will go pre-pay the special order and see what they look like. I think the black chrome on the titanium color will look good, I removed the chrome letters and it looks plain now.

His Maxima is a 2000 SE. Mine is too, and I also have the "black chrome" emblems.

Thanks for the pics. You rock. I love this board. Ask, and you shall receive. For $26, I think I might get 'em. Is it difficult to align the new emblems so it doesn't look like a blind monkey put 'em on?

No problem . I'd hope they'd use the same mounting holes as the 2K3's emblems. If not, when you remove the stock ones, maybe make some wax marks to show where it goes.

Oh, ok. I didn't know the holes even existed. I was under the impression the emblems were "stuck" to the trunk...

They are.

Except the Nissan 'meatball'. That one has the holes.

I would 'frame' the existing ones in masking tape to use as a guide on where to put the new ones...

Whoops, forgot it was only the hamburger that has the holes. Sorry for the mis-information.

i just bought a 2000 BLack SE and it had the blacked out emblems on it. But the black is coming off on a few of the letters. But they're chrome underneath so I'm just gonna rub the rest of the black off. Saves me from buyuing new emblems.
