Okay, okay. You caught me. I hate black people. That's why I did it.

I took a race/ethnicity course a few years ago in college. It actually said that this is the order of preference for what a poll of black people preferred to be called.

1. Black
2. African American (or Afro-American)
3. Colored
4. Negro

Technically I was being as politically correct as possible.

But my bad on the "nationality" thing. I should've just left "race" where I had it.

Oh, and "Latino" does not necessarily include Mexicans. "Hispanic" encompasses everyone.

I knew this was going to happen.

I apologize for starting it, but you wanna know why? Because I'm white and one of my first interractions here was with "brown kids" (their words, not mine) who were hassled by the police and were screaming racism. I tried to point out that their story included things like "I was leaning in a car parked on the street in front of my house and the neighbor thought it was a drug deal so he called the cops." But they still thought the police searching their car made the cops (and me for defending them) racists.

So again, I'm sorry I dragged the thread off this way, but I and many "whites" are a little touchy about identifying race for fear of being called a racist by default.

Wow Asu, I told you we think alike. Just yesterday I was thinking about posting this exact same poll, trying to find out everyone's ethnicity. And today on the forum, I find your poll!! Amazing. Long lost brother? I didn't post because I didn't want people to think I was a racist or anything. I was just curious because I do notice a lot of Maxima drivers in Houston are black.

I'm yellow, so that might rule out us being bros.
