Digital Climate Control

Have any of you changed over your analog control to a digital one? I have a non-bose 2k2 and was wondering if it can be done and how much of a PITA it is....anyone?

I wanted to change mine a while ago but it is not as simple as changing the control unit only. There are more sensors and wirings for the digital climate control compared to the analog one. To me, it's not worth the effort to modify it.

What's so bad about the A/C? I have the auto climate control, and it works great.

I got the auto climate control and do not like it either. I live in Fla and its always 85 plus, if you leave it on auto it blows on high like forever so you manually turn the blower speed down. I liked the the manual one I had on my 99 better. Anyone know if you can read interior temp on the trip computer or just outside temp?

If you have it set on 60 degrees, the fan will keep blowing on high until it gets the interior to 60 degrees. If you're having to turn the fan down earlier, then it hasn't reached the interior temperature yet. I think this feature works great. On summer days when the interior is well above 110 degrees (black leather seats), and I set the Auto Climate Control on 65, it blows on high and once it's at 65 in the car, it goes to it's lowest fan setting. Simple as that.

Just outside temp. If you got the temp/compass mirror option, that shows inside temp.

I had a question about climate control too.

When on Auto, it will only be in one mode right, arrow pointing to the face? It will be cool if it adjusted the mode too.

I think on my friend's 99 Maxima, when you set it to Auto it will start from the arrow pointing to legs and when switch over to arrow pointing to face.

another problem with climate control

is that you can't set the high and low, only the average with less than a few degress of variation. If you live in a place where the temperature swings a great deal (northern california) this is a royal pain. In the morning the heater blows when you don't want it to, and in the evening the a/c blasts on even when its nice outside.

Has anyone figured out a way to adjust the temperature range?

With auto it will change modes, at least mine does. When I have the heat on and it gets above a certain temp it will change to floor and dash, and blow out colder air. Mine works great I love it.

If you wanna do the swap you need the actual claimate control unit and 3 sensors. I have been thinking about doing this a while my self. The wiring is probably allready all set, you just need to get the proper sensors. Maybe I will do this sometime and do a write on it. It should be fairly cheap to do if you get the stuff out of a junk yard.

www.car-part.com has quite a few auto climate control modules for $100. Hmm.. jsut need to track down the right sensors now.

The sensors seem like they would be the hard part, I would assume that the wiring is all the same behind it or that the harness is there. Where can we get the #'s for the sensors?

Re: another problem with climate control

coming from an A/C unit in a 1990 Jimmy that blew warm air, I think this thing is great. My only complaint is that the 2nd fan speed is too much higher than the 1st.

Just adjust the outside temp

Maybe for the heat it works this way, but when you cooling the car down with A/C and you have Auto set it will stay on one mode all the time. At least mine does. Only fan speed will get adjusted.

Another point about the switch

For the Meridian Package Maxes, the control for the heated mirrors is integrated into that switch.

In my '94 it was on the mirror control.
