HLSD question...

I have a 2k2 6 speed manual and the only option besides Navi that I did not get was HLSD. Is it possible to add this to my car and if so any ball park figure on doing so??

Thanks

the only way to add it is to swap out tranny, because it is a part of it. you looking at a lot of dough there.

its not really worth it to try to add it. the benefits are minimal. you arent missing much. dont worry.

Thanks for your response. I didn't think I was missing much but if it wasn't too costly it would be nice just to have.

Thanks again!

Uh, I think a LSD has been underrated here. I know in my AE with the VLSD there is a DISTINCT difference from the other 2001's I drove at the time of purchase...I can only imagine the difference would be even more with the HLSD (considering it is dealing with distributing even more torque than the VQ30 engines put out).

Enough to swap trannies or get involved with their insides...probably not, but to make it seem like it is an unnoticeable item is just wrong...

maybe i am biased because i have never driven a non-HLSD maxima but during my everyday driving i cant imagine how the HLSD would ever come in handy. its not like i take every turn going 30 over the safe posted speed. i dont do a 3k clutch drop from every stop light. maybe i shouldnt have said the benefits are minimal. rather, i probably should have said that i personally dont think the benefits of HLSD will be had in most peoples' everyday driving.

I am thinking about every time it rains and those times when the road surface is loose or covered in dirt, etc. Even my VLSD definitely helps keep one tire from wildly spinning away while I sit there in humiliation....

I agree with you in the spirited driving aspect, but do find it useful more often than not.
