TCM - $ Price
#1
Im thinking of installing one by my own to avoid waranty problems since I have a few aftermaket goodies like CAI, YPipe, High Flow Cat, Stillen Muffler and so on. There is a place called Trophy Nissan Parts Dept, and they can get the TCM - Part Num. 31036-3Y101 for $529.02 or Internet Price for $449.93 parts@nissanwholesaleparts.com
I dont know if it worth the price. Don Cooper from Texas does the valvebody trick for less but it's a more complicated job. If any of you fans decide to go this way, reply for the benefit of all of us.

no... dont go out of pocket for this...
dont even send *that* message to Nissan. The only way you should ever consider buying this is if some other poor owner in his own despiration, steals yours thinking its a newer one
Plus having the TCM and seeing the difference, I can honestly say its not worth $500. Do you spent that much time at almost WOT? you should be thinking past a stock tranny anyway then.
think of this... if your tranny does slip and by the time they fix it the clutches are burnt, then you get a free rebuild, or a free tranny. Either way you win. the only party that is going to lose is Nissan if the tranny slips or fails. They can spend $300 now, or $1500 in a year or two. but you'll still get your TCM and tranny that works to spec. Remember youre covered 5yr/60K on the drivetrain.

I have done both... TCM and Don's VB. I say if you want to fix the slip, go for the VB. I didn't notice a major difference when I got the TCM done (but I had the done VB before the swap). The $450 or so you spend on the vb recal is well worth it IMHO.

If you completely give up and want to blow your money replacing your TCM yourself, you can get it at CourtesyParts.Com for $375.26 + shipping you have to email them and they will order it for you. I thought about replacing it myself to save myself the hassle, but at that price, Nissan will cough it up for me or get a Maxima enema
