Can anyone tell me......

Is it ok to switch to non-synthetic oil after going synthetic after the first 1K miles? I have been doing a lot of reading on the org about non-syn vs. syn and want to switch over to non until 10K. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

I would suggest just keeping the synthetic as you should have no problems from here on out. The problem with the syn vs. non-syn. debate is that there are a number of rumors that are still, by some, believed to be fact. The reality of the matter is that syn. oil is nothing but better than non-syn. oil (no flames from non-syn. advocates please). The only real question I see is whether or not the advantages of syn. oil are enough to justify its higher cost. Personally, I believe they do, and as such, use synthetic. In the end I guess it comes down to preference. There are huge number of posts on this topic, some of which you've alluded to reading, none of them are going to give you a definitive answer since just about everyone has "facts" to back up there claims. Good luck with whatever you chose.

*I* would stick with it. I'm a firm believer that the max takes 6-10K to break in, but really... its not going to hurt you.

In fact, you never know, it could give you more start up protection on the newer engine :/

It's a fact that the max makes more HP at 6-10K miles than it does at 1k. I think the mags were alluding to 5-6hp, but I dont remember where I read that exact figure.

I was alluding to how there are individuals on both sides of the great syn. vs. non-syn. debate which have all of these so-called facts to back up their claim that one is superior to the other. With so many rumors going around, its hard for the average joe to make a well informed decision without having some doubts. I have no doubt that the engine makes more power after being properly broken in.
