Are rotors under warranty?
Are rotors under warranty?
Realized after driving the last two weeks that the steering wheel vibrates badly when braking over 65 mph.
Based on my search of this website, the rotors either need replaced or re-surfaced.
Has anyone had this procedure done on their car while it was still under warranty, and if so, what success did you have getting the dealer to do it for free. Cuz I'm having the dealer look at it this weekend, and want to know what I should expect.
thanks.

Brake rotors are covered until the "3 years/36K mile" bumper to bumper warranty expires...

Thanks man. I'm wondering if anybody's had any problem with a dealer trying to finagle around that TSB though.

I had them done (under warranty) a 3rd time at about 29-30K. Just make sure that they use the on-car brake lathe. Afterwards, when you get your car home re-torque the lug nuts to spec with a good torque wrench; otherwise you stand a good chance of the rotors warping again.

Or will they make that decision when they look at it?

I'd rather have new rotors than turned old ones...

The TSP specifically says to turn them ON THE CAR, but if they just replace them with NEW ones, I would think that is even better. Its all up to the particular dealership i think...Just make sure you get ALL new pads also...

Just bring a copy of the TSB and you should be fine, as long as the above is true.
