Anybody Experienced This Problem?

This has happened twice in the last two weeks…

After I had driven the maxima for a while, I pulled over to get gas or go inside a store. Come back out an attempt to start the engine, but no sound from the starter…not even a click, but their is battery power to all the instrumentation.

I'll turn the switch off and wiggle the gear selector a little (maybe 2 seconds) while it's still in park position, an turn the power to crank, an the car starts up.

Never had any problems out of my max until now…if anyone knows what may be causing this PLEASE respond.
I just lost my warranty by 200 miles…36,237 miles

I drive the 01-Maxima-SE with the Auto tranny…

ive got an 01 as well. when i bought it, i would drive the car a short distance, 10-15 miles and shut off the car. i would come back a few minutes later and the car would have trouble turning over. i disregarded it but it happened a few more times. i went to the dealership and left it over night. they started it up the next morning drove it, then cut it off. it hesitated starting so they knew it was real. they said there was a tsb correcting it even though i have never found one. whatever they did, fixed it.

Mine has done this 2x (2k Auto SE). Very random, and happened far apart. Has not happened in a while.

3rd Gen's have this problem alot check that forum, I know my old 93GXE did. I would have to jiggle the Shifter or sometimes push it up while in park to get it to start.

I'd say on the second time it happened the alarm was not on because I stopped to get gas. The first time it happened, yea, the alarm was on an I disarmed it with the Key fob.

Yea…I'll check that 3rd genration forum to see what those guys & gals have experienced with this problem. I'm wanting to at least get some kind of feel for the problem before I spend money taking it in for service. Thanks everyone!

You metioned getting this happened after getting gas. Do you have a Speedpass on your keychain? A friend had a problem with her Max, the dealer said it was caused by the Speedpass.

Took it off the key chain, no more problems.
