I read somewhere that all 2001 Maximas come with adjustable lumber support. But my 2001 GXE does not have one. Which is right?

The lumbar support in my SE with cloth interior comes in a little lever on the right of the seat, towards the middle of the back, rather than the tilt adust stuff on the lower left.

LumbAr support -- right side of seat -- midway up.

LumbEr support -- not offered. I think you need a roof rack for that! J/K

My GXE seats sucks.

I still can't find a comfortable position. However my previous SE-L leathers fit tight. Wonder if it's the material or are the seats made different?

my GXE has great seats...

today i went from oklahoma city to tulsa, its about 115 miles each way, i was comfortable in the seats. no complaints here, and my drivers seat has the lumbar support (little lever on the side of the seat), maybe it comes with the c&c package?

Re: my GXE has great seats...

My 2001 GXE does not have any options. I do see a little indented circle on the right side of the driver seat midway up but there is not lever on it.

I guess it comes with other options (C&C?). The seats are generally comfortable but lacking a little lumber support.

GXE seats are great

I drive 300 miles without stopping and my back and body feels great. I have the lumbar support, but I don't usually do anything with it. BTW- I have the electric driver seat.

I think you need to have the C&C package to get lumbar support. The C&C package will have the power drivers seat that will include lumbar support.

Re: Re: my GXE has great seats...

You can have lumbar support added aftermarket, if you want. I'm not sure how $$ it is though. The same companies that do auto upholstry will usually do the lumbar support.

I even saw a website for aftermarket automatic seat adjustments. It supposedly uses sensors and air to contour the seat to your body. Crazy ****!

i dont think thats a new thing...

my uncles '97 cadillac deville has heated seats with massage feature, also a 4 way power lumber support (very comfy seats) even though that car is a boat, it has great features, smooth ride and a pretty nice 275hp engine. its the best american for a reasonable price.

Re: Re: my GXE has great seats...

Your lever must have fallen off before you bought it. It is not part of the options package. It's part of the car, just like ABS and power windows. The GXE just doesn't have "power" seats. It has a lever on the right hand side of the seat just above the arm rest and two ***** on the bottom left side of the seat to adjust your knees and butt up and down. There's also the lever to tilt the seat back up and down as well as the lever to move the seat forward and backward.

You have no idea what you are talking about. You can get a GXE with power driver's seat. It is part of the comfort and convience package. Hell, the adjustable center console is even part of that package!

I am sure that he said that his doesn't have c&c. But this 'maxine' person said "A GXE just doesn't come with 'power' seats" and I KNOW this is wrong. A power driver's seat with lumbar support is part of the c&c package on the GXE!

You do not get lumbar support on the GXE unless you have the c&c package!

Of course the POWER seat is part of the C&C package. But I was talking about the BASE car (no options or only auto). It comes with a human powered seat. jzwu has the GXE without options as do I. The seat we have has no power seat, but it does have manual adjustments.

I apologize for being so misleading. I was only refering to those of us who own GXEs without any extra frills.

I personally

think that the GXE or Maxima seats in general are too soft and don't have enough support for real driving. I would have liked something like the seats in BMW's or the Integra. Oh Well.... That's why I got a Recaro done in matching leather. Perfect.
