I dunno. But the more the merrier as far as I'm concerned. After all, I was a newbie once upon a time.

Yeah. I was a lurker two months ago. But I used to hang out at the original maxima forum. That old forum was cool. It had an image section where you could upload your images and place them in your post. It also had something this forum needs bad. A chat line. That forum was awesome.

Lurker?

Ok, I’ve been meaning to ask, why am I referred to as a {LURKER}. It makes me sound like a pedophile or something, is it post related, as in the amount? Thanks.

Yeah, its post related. You have to post 25 times to change to a "newbie". then from there you post 50 times and you become a "Maxima Enthusiast". I think you post 100 times and you become a "Maxima Fanatic". Then you post 300 times and you become a "Maximaniac". Then you can become "Maxaholic", "Maxima Obsessed", and others.

I remember the old forum too, max2kgle526 . . .

but what I remember most is how unreliable it was. There were many times I couldn't get in for hours on end. The new forum may have it's shortcomings, but it's a helluvalot easier to access than the old one was.

Does it really matter...

that we have to label ourselves. I don't pay much attention to the labeling but others might do and that is their preference. I will contribute when I have something constructive and useful. Gaining points and being labeled is nonsense for a forum that bring people together about a subject we all love to talk and read about.

I'm stepping down from my preverbal "soapbox".

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

Well you do have a point, guchi . . .

It's generally not a good idea to judge a book by its cover. On the other hand, those who post a lot and stick around usually have a wealth of experience to draw on. So the labels do have some value.

Another drawback was the fact that everyone was always arguing w/ eachother. PEACE ON EARTH. I got pissed the day the old BBS found its demise.

Why does it matter if you are a "lurker"? Do you have something to hide? Are you nervous that the Internet knows something about you? Perhaps you are a, a, a, LURKER!!!!!! <- look, a LURKER!!!!!

I receive those "missing persons" flyers in my mailbox at least once per month, but I still proclaim my innocences: I have never seen them.

I agree with y2kse, at one time we were all newbies. Plus it will only help us to get more exposure, ie. group deals, manufacturer related probs, etc. I did notice though that there are alot more people here then when I first started LURKING.

the main thing is that when U post and change your status people start to recognize U and U gain respect. we were all Lurkers and newbies once. here, on Peelboyz forum, chad, russ, evan, whats the point???? if UR here to learn then it shouldn't matter, its those dumbasses who have nothing to do but to waste time we gotta watch out for

Maybe, but I think this has been going on for the past few months now, but its all good, People need to know about their cars even if they are not Maxima Junkees like some of us. U can save a lot of money by doing some work with the help of some folks from the forum.
