Want to see what a bad y-pipe flex section will do to an 11 psi manual 5th gen?
Want to see what a bad y-pipe flex section will do to an 11 psi manual 5th gen?
I bought my Cattman Y-pipe from DMAN 4 months ago (it was used for 1 and a half years), but haven't installed it yet. I'm worried about the flex-section failing, so I emailed Cattman to see if they would cover it in case of failure. I'm not the original owner, so I might not be covered, but I hope they honor the warranty since it's a known issue with their product.
Do you plan to ask Stillen to fix the problem with your pipe?

Another member had problems with his Stillen y-pipe too (Jane does also)...... I'll just have the flex replaced, which isn't a biggie.

Well crap, I thought the Cattman pipe had a 3-yr warranty, but it only has a 1 year warranty. Looks like I'm out of luck if the flex section fails on my pipe. So far it looks ok.
I guess it's the Stillen that has the 3-yr warranty.

No ****!Man I don't want to type all that crap again. Hopefully, it shows up.
Short version....
Twin turbocharged Hemi boat engine = SUPER hot exhaust housing and melted/on fire boat interior.
Ceramic coated turbo exhaust housings = trapped radiated heat that must go out exhaust + better efficiency
If your interested I can get you more specifics. Not sure how much it costs, but it's a white chalk color texture/look. Maybe it can be painted.

I wanted to ceramic coat all the exhaust piping sooner or later... but I need to make sure they don't have to be modified first.

I'm wondering what kind of efficency gain can be had be ceramic coating the turbine section, so all the heat is forced to go out the exhaust. Plus, the MAJOR reduction in underhood temperatures, which may be a problem.
It was just a thought, since you didn't have it installed yet. Once installed, it's probably too much work to remove it, sit without a car for a week while it's being coated, and then reinstall it. I'll send you a few pictures I have, but I don't think any are just of the turbos.

The turbo sits very high up in the engine bay (turbine is next to the charged piping that goes to the throttle body)... I noticed this when Nigel first showed pictures of the setup. There are definitely benefits of doing this, and you have pointed them out.I think I should test-fit/break-in the components before thinking so far ahead. The sketchy plan was to send everything to get ceramic coated in December (vacation
) if all goes well.

I'm hoping it can be painted with high-temp paint, but at least on my car it will sort of match. Hehe.
Now I just need everything to go smoothly with your install and my warranty to run out.

Too much wet vs. dry debates to make up my mind. So, *** it, I'm going to wait and see how your turbo goes. However, I could always use the rice juice to help get over the lag to 4K RPMs.
Or I could just choose a T3/T4 hybrid instead, since I don't need 400+ whp as some people on here do.

Rice juice would be a perfect compliment for the T04E.

Come on, quit playing. Got dyno? Boost starting RPM? Full boost RPM? Peak HP/TQ?

If I recall correctly, boost starts under 2k and peak boost is somewhere in the 3XXX range.
