I bought my Cattman Y-pipe from DMAN 4 months ago (it was used for 1 and a half years), but haven't installed it yet. I'm worried about the flex-section failing, so I emailed Cattman to see if they would cover it in case of failure. I'm not the original owner, so I might not be covered, but I hope they honor the warranty since it's a known issue with their product.

Do you plan to ask Stillen to fix the problem with your pipe?

I don't know Cattman's warranty policy. He has posted about this, so check out this old posts.

Another member had problems with his Stillen y-pipe too (Jane does also)...... I'll just have the flex replaced, which isn't a biggie.

Well crap, I thought the Cattman pipe had a 3-yr warranty, but it only has a 1 year warranty. Looks like I'm out of luck if the flex section fails on my pipe. So far it looks ok.

I guess it's the Stillen that has the 3-yr warranty.

Stillen does not have 3 year warranty....someone here with a bad flex from his under 1-yr old stillen Y...and stillen did not do any warranty work.

I replied there and here but How did you know the pipe was gone bad, should I inspect mine?

By process of elimination. You should check yours if your car doesn't feel as peppy as usual.

Only way to tell is to inspect the flex by taking off the cat. Butt dyno isn't accurate because I felt no loss in power with the screwed up flex...

Short version....

Twin turbocharged Hemi boat engine = SUPER hot exhaust housing and melted/on fire boat interior.

Ceramic coated turbo exhaust housings = trapped radiated heat that must go out exhaust + better efficiency

If your interested I can get you more specifics. Not sure how much it costs, but it's a white chalk color texture/look. Maybe it can be painted.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I wanted to ceramic coat all the exhaust piping sooner or later... but I need to make sure they don't have to be modified first.

That's great, but I'm talking about ceramic coating the turbos' turbine(exhaust wheel section). That's where all the heat is flowing/disipated from and can even glow red hot.

I'm wondering what kind of efficency gain can be had be ceramic coating the turbine section, so all the heat is forced to go out the exhaust. Plus, the MAJOR reduction in underhood temperatures, which may be a problem.

It was just a thought, since you didn't have it installed yet. Once installed, it's probably too much work to remove it, sit without a car for a week while it's being coated, and then reinstall it. I'll send you a few pictures I have, but I don't think any are just of the turbos.

I thought you were talking about the piping. The turbo sits very high up in the engine bay (turbine is next to the charged piping that goes to the throttle body)... I noticed this when Nigel first showed pictures of the setup. There are definitely benefits of doing this, and you have pointed them out.

I think I should test-fit/break-in the components before thinking so far ahead. The sketchy plan was to send everything to get ceramic coated in December (vacation ) if all goes well.

I'll find out the specifics, but supposedly you can ship whatever you want coated to the company in Phoenix, AZ and they will coat it.

Got it, thanks! I wouldn't mind doing that and putting a heat shield over it so it doesn't stand out so much. When you get a chance would you mind sending me their contact info please?

Will do!

I'm hoping it can be painted with high-temp paint, but at least on my car it will sort of match. Hehe.

Now I just need everything to go smoothly with your install and my warranty to run out.

Wussy'd out.

Too much wet vs. dry debates to make up my mind. So, *** it, I'm going to wait and see how your turbo goes. However, I could always use the rice juice to help get over the lag to 4K RPMs. Or I could just choose a T3/T4 hybrid instead, since I don't need 400+ whp as some people on here do.

T3/T4 would be a nice light-to-light setup. Power peaks VERY early with that setup (seen dyno).

Rice juice would be a perfect compliment for the T04E.

I know every rice mag I see has people running a T3 or T3/T4 hybrid, but if you have a dyno of one I'd be interested in seeing it.

Thanks.

But have you seen one on a Maxima? Let's just say it hits early.

Who, what, where, when, why, and how?

Come on, quit playing. Got dyno? Boost starting RPM? Full boost RPM? Peak HP/TQ?

Turbo and NorCal.... hmmmmmmm...... I will not disclose any info, but all I can say is peak power hits eary! If I recall correctly, boost starts under 2k and peak boost is somewhere in the 3XXX range.
