Back Seat Armrest Question?

Does anyone know if I can cut a hole in the space behind the armrest? I would like to find a car that has a little door there with a key so I can put that in there on my Max. I want this because I want to have a hole to let the bass out from my subs. The leather just absorbs way too much sound, and If I had a hole there, my ports could be aimed just perfectly. Any ideas?

I think it will be awesome if u make a whole their and then cover it up w/ some fancy glass and maybe add a neon???

Yeah, that would be pretty neat. Anybody know what is under the covering? Is it metal?

Oh man, that would be sweet. But, I wouldn't stop there. You should get some of those glowing valve stem covers too.

Seiously, I'm not sure how much of a diff it would make. Especially "aiming" you ports. Bass is non directional anyway.

I have two Bazooka subs back there, so I was thinking that I'd line them up so that the ports were closest to the opening in the armrest. As far as neon goes, I bet a neon license plate cover would be just about the right size. hmmm.

I'm pretty sure that the 2002 Accords have a little door there. I'm not sure about the 2003, but I'm almost certain that the 2002's do. I'm not sure about bazooka tubes, but I know that if you had a ported box, and put the port up to that hole, it would make things a lot louder. It would be putting all of the bass into the cabin instead of the trunk.

Exactly. Bazookas work pretty much the same way. My problem right now is that a lot of the bass is trapped in the trunk because it is insulated so well with the leather. Thanks for the info on the Accord. I'll check my friend's out and see if there is a part no. I can get for it.

All that you have to do is fold over one side, thats what I do. I highly doubt you can cut that thing and make it not rattle when your subs hit.

If you mean fold down one seat or the other...Yes I could do that, but it looks like crap, and I don't wanna keep putting it back up when I get out in public.

There is most likely a metal brace there because when sitting 3 people in the back it gives better support during collisions. I think you just need to take off the cloth covering on the back of the seat to check it out for sure. It would probably rattle like a ***** though unless you got some more supporting for it. Maybe weld a piece on the end of the seat and connect the door to that with hinge bolts and lock and key to the other seat. I don't know..I could just be talking about of my ***...

Well, the door would be more for cosmetic reasons. I don't wanna always have a gaping hole in my back seat of my $30k car. Especially if I decide to sell it. I could just cut a hole there, and then get an upostery shop to cover a piece of board with the same material and velcro it in place. Then you'd barely notice anything. For that matter, I could cut a hole, and cover it with speaker mesh or something. Hey, now we're getting somewhere!

So I checked out the cargo door in the Accord today. It won't work, the support housing for it is huge, since the Accord doesn't have a 60/40 split folding rear seat. Any more ideas? I haven't come across any Altimas yet.
