Armrest Removal

I searched and search on here for what I had read aout 3-4 months ago. Someone asked for the PDF files of where all the screws are located on a 2000-2001 Maxima for removing the center console and armrest. I'm looking for that PDF because I need to access underneath the armrest in my Max. Any help or direction would be nice

open up the armrest, the deep pocket for cds, and remove everything. underneath there's a soft rubber/plastic liner that you can remove and underneath it remove the one screw.
now pull both your front seats all the way forward and out of the way. on either side towards the rear of the console, you'll find one more screw on each side. remove those.
now move back to the front of the console, by the shifter, and look down at the sides where the center console piece extends forward to meet the center stack (for the ashtray, stereo, hvac..) you'll see that they kinda, sorta overlap. they're held together by clips so you can actually pry off the center console 'fingers' by pulling back on them to separate. you'll know what i mean when you look at your car.
from here on you should be able to work the console free with some wiggling here and there. it's easier to do with the e brake handle about 3/4 of the way up. and watch out for wire harnesses you need to disconnect. i think there's a couple for the rear 12volt outlet and seat heaters if you have em.

Can you believe that a member e-mailed me asking if I wanted to buy the information from him?

Quick note to anyone that has a dashkit and wants to remove their armrest completely - this cannot be done because there are two important scres located near the shifter!

well to remove the shifter console just remove the ashtray insert and u will see one screw. and just move your shifter around if needed so that u have room to remove the shift console.

How does the ash tray come out? Do you just need to rip it out or is there a release slot for it to pop out? In my 3rd gen there was something to push down and it popped out.

you have to take out the liner for the ashtray, and then remove the screw underneath in order to remove the surrounding trim

once you remove the screw you can pull out the shifter trim, emergency flasher and ashtray
