strut options. konis ok with h&r/maxspeeds?

i know the recommended setup is eibach with konis or kybs and h&r/maxspeeds with tokico blues. but considering some of the problems with tokicos (see irvine78's thread) what's your opinions on a h&r/maxspeed setup with konis? i'm not too interested in kybs since they'd need to be modified.

I have koni and eibach........IMO, if u decided to have some close-to-stock-ride spring....u can go with stock struts. If u decided to go with stiffer spring, u might want to consider koni or AGX. I would get the AGX if they have it available for 5th gen. Konis are expensive and the rear is not on-car adjustable (most likely u wont bother with the setting anyways)

one of reason that irvine78's tokico went bad because he cut his eibach spring.

problems? i hardly call mine a problem. let's see...i had that shocks for about 2 years and close to 60,000miles...i literally used and abused those Tokicos while roadracing in Willowsprings and Fontana, drag racing in Carlsbad and Fontana..and to top that off, i drove my car on some of the worst paved roads in America(L.A)...i think my Tokicos were ok...

like i said, Tokicos were really good for me. i just like the AGXs better. i chose AGXs over Konis because the rear shocks of AGXs are easier to adjust than Konis. with Konis, you have to remove the shocks from the suspension in order to adjust the rear shocks. with AGXs, you don't. the adjusting ***** are located on the side so you just reach in and adjust it.

Tokico just released Illunima series for the 4th gens. the rear shocks are easily adjustable like the AGXs, and the fronts are inserts, just like Konis only cheaper.

1) my Tokicos lasted way~ longer than many of other people from org with 'uncut' eibachs.
2) i probably drove alot more and alot more aggressively than some of those people who blew their Tokicos before me
3) so don't blame it on my cut Eibachs.

it was just my shocks' time to go..

custom maxima carries the progress springs with kyb agx struts. what do you think of that setup? Are eibachs better?

IMO, I believe Eibach came out with that drop rate and it should not be altered for a reason. Or maybe Eibach and Tokicos are not a good combo.

anyways, I didnt try to be offensive or anything...if I did, I apologize

uuumm... hi hoon.

i'm not trying to be argumentative here but that doesn't make sense.
what i'm getting from that post is that you were actually lucky to get two years of use from the tokico struts since people who don't drive as aggressively or have modified springs have experienced failure before you did. those are precisely the problems that i referred to in the original post.

further input is very welcome guys. cuz i'm still not sure if konis and h&r is a good combo. (and i'm not convinced that tokicos will do me much good in the long term). what i do know is that my stock setup is two years and 74000 miles old. change is a'comin.

oh btw, i'm looking for a reasonably soft ride since it's a daily driver but also enjoy the lower look. besides, i can't get over the sticker shock of replacement oem struts.
