Weird! Strange starting in my 2k2
Weird! Strange starting in my 2k2
It was weird, i didn't drive my car for two days and i get out to start it up ..
I wasn't greeted by the usual starting but a rather weird one..
I started the motor and for the first 3 seconds the whole car was shaking and stumbling and making aweful noises..
Then it disappeared.. Anybody else experience this??
I never happened again though..

I think I remember reading here somewhere, that will happen if the last time you drove your car before you parked it for a coule days was a really short time/trip. Like if you started it drove it like 5 minutes or less (say you started it and moved it) then turned it off and let it sit for a couple days. I am pretty sure there was an issue somewhere about that.
sounds exactly like the experience I have with my 2k1 GXE...I took it to the dealership and they replaced something called the crank angle sensor under warranty, but that did not fix the problem. I've learned to just live with it, and if it gets worse, then I'll call nissan corporate.
h2o U 2??
.....water in the fuel-line anybody????
Condenstation??? -- moisture???
Not had it happen to mine - but this is not unheard of for any vehicle after not being driven for a few days - especially after it rains or is humid.

It's probably lifter noise. When the engines aren't run for a long period of time the lifters bleed down (no oil). It takes a couple of seconds for them to charge back up when you start the car.
VQ's do that, it's normal.

This is not uncommon with my 2001 Maxima, DEFINETLY feels like a fuel starvation problem, please let me know about any more details

The disign is Bucket & Shim which requires little or no maintenance.
I've had the same unusual start up happen to my 4th gen. I can make it happen if I start the car in the morning to just move it back slightly and shut it down, running time is less then 30 seconds.
Later on during the day or even the next day when I start the car, it starts like it's missing and stumbling. Clears up in just a few seconds. I attribute the unusual start to the earlier start when the engine really didn't run long enough to burn up the rich fuel mixture that was dumped into the cylinders during a cold start up. I think the stumbing and missing is actually just the plugs, which were fouled slightly, burning up that excess fuel and clearing up.
Watch your tail pipe, you'll notice a puff of dark smoke from the excess gas burning up. Then all's back to normal again. A leaky fuel injector will also cause a stumbling start/misfire by allowing fuel to enter while the car is off.
