sounds like a pretty hot idea...you better post pics. that's what's been holding me back from getting clears...my car is grey lustre and i got 20% tints...putting clears may stand out a bit too much so making them darker might be a great idea. let me know how it turns out. what are you using to "tint" it....most people that do that use a spray that makes it darker but still visible.

I thought about doing this with my clears, but I haven't done it since I'm trading in my 01 for a 02 or 03. I think it'll look cool, specially since your car is black. Don't do them too dark though, the lights might not shine through the tint.

Do u mean your stock or clear markers? i've thought about tinting my stock markers. i guess it would be like when all of the vw's started to black'en out their rear light housings(jetta's,golf's...)

If it's done on the stock markers, would we put our stock bulbs(clear) back in or keep the colored bulbs(4 those who are using them) in?

1st one to get it done post pics.

If you are planning on blacking out the bumper lenses, then you might as well go dark, and match the paint. Then just take the bulbs out of those sockets, and don't worry about the light shining through. Those lights are needed for any reason, other than DRL "safety" I guess.

you would see SOME light, you would definately see a ring around the light since you probably wont black out the edge's.. plus when you do black them out, you are not going to make perfect layers, so you will get hot spots here and there.

thats why i say, take the bulbs out.

Hmmmmmm. That's a thought. WHy tint the whole thing when you can black out or paint over the lens with matching paint. But just paint the center of the lens so that there is about a 1/16th of an inch around the edge of the lens that is left unpainted. It would look kinda like an "Oakley" emblem or something like that. Might look pretty cool. Would definately set the car off at night too. Hmmmmmmm.

don't buy niteshades. i've done some research and the finish will come out dull. i've had my sides and tails smoked out for quite sometime now and it's still glossy and tite. go here... MatrixRacing.com hope that works. or just visit www.matrixracing.com, click on the paintspray link. it's about $30.

[WELL I BOUGHT THE NITE SHADES TINTING SPRAY AND PAINTED THE FRONT ORANGE MARKERS FIRST JUST TO SEE HOW IT TURNED OUT... NOW WHEN I JUS GOT THE CAR I WANTED BOTH THE FRONT AND THE BACK TO BE RED BUT THEY DIDNT MAKE RED ONES FOR THE FRONT.... WHEN I STUCK THEM BACK ON THE FRONT AFTER PAINTING THEM( LOOK VERY NICE COMPLETELY BLACK WHEN NO LIGHT IS ON) I HAD A NICE SURPISE.. THE LIGHT WAS NOW RED AND IT LOOKS HOTTTTTT.... I DUNO IF IM EVEN GOING TO PAINT THE BACK ONES YET IM STILL THINKIN

Does anyone know the Street Concepts official wesite? I found street-concepts.net but im pretty sure thats not them. Also, If I were to tint corners and put hyper white bulbs in, would this make them easier to see?

This is a little OT. I was browsing ebay and came across carbon fiber inserts for the WRX. What if we could have carbon fiber sidemarkers for the Max? I think it would look pretty decent on a black or white car. You'd loose the lights, but I think it would look good.

Dave.

Functional? Rather than just painting black, id rather have some functionality. I ordered nite shades, but someone said its not that great. I found this also this.

whatever you decide to get, take your time spraying it. I sprayed very light coats, took about 10 coats total each side marker. Be patient.

The way I blacked mine out was got a foot of black vinyl and put vinyl over the stock markers, and took out the bulbs. I waxed them a couple times and they are nice and shiny. Very easy and cheap. Once u get the vinyl stretched over the outside it will bunch up on the inside at the corners use a hair dryer and the vinyl will shrink to fit.
