when i was back from my friend's house on highway 105 CA. a mr2 came from behind and flashed me. i down shifed to 3rd, and get ready to take off. we were matching the speed at 75. suddenly, he finally took off. i was so shocked, i couldn't catch him. he ran 75 to 120 within less than 3 sec i guess. as u know, i lost...i wouldn't think a turbo charged mr2 would go that fast, dont know what he mod in his "air craft".....

 

I saw an MR2 run a 11 second pass down the 1/4 mile a couple of years ago. I'm sure he was sporting some laughing gas and serious turbo/engine upgrades! I always wanted one, but they've never been a practical car for me.

I have a friend that has a tt mr2 with an engine swap and that car will fly. From my understanding from him easy to modify also

Ya i always like them too. You should have hit it first. There is no way you would hold with one if jumped on it first.

 

theres a kid at my school with an older MR2 like the blue one up above. are those any fast stock. its a turbo MR2 and hes got intake and cat-back. he hasnt brought it to the track, ive wondered what their potential was

 

I don' think they are twin turbo. they are four bangers.
they do have to potential to push over 400hp though.

 

This one is TT he had it custom built at a local performance shop.

 

One of the magizine project cars a few years back had a last gen MR2 with a turbo pushing 500hp. Of course the bottom end of the motor was all built up to handle the boost, but that is still pretty impressive considering the lightness of the car.

 

Didn't Loren(had a SC 5spd 4th gen)race a MR2? IIRC, there was a video of him racing one. That MR2 had an upgraded turbo too. Loren did quite well, he beat the MR2 actually.
