I got bridgestone RE-730 @ $137 from tirerack. Nitto are about the same price but they make a lot of road noise and don't grip as well. RE-730 is the best tire in this price range. then U move up to the yoko and BF GTA and others.

Go with the Nitto 555 Extremes!!

Hey man I'm getting ready to replace my Bridgestone Potenzas with the Nitto 555 Extremes for $143/tire. I've heard really good things about these tires (i.e. grip well, Z rated, good wet weather traction, & they look great) Try calling discount tires at 1-800-808-4737 for a price quote and nearest location. Later.

what type of tires should i get?

if price is not an issue...what type should i get? i will eventually replace the rims, but that is not for awhile down the road...i was thinking about toyo proxies t1-s or nitto nt555...i will be putting on 235/45ZR17's on the stock 17" rims...can anyone give me some help...i want tires that will grip well on dry pavement and in the water and i want z rated tires...

my friend w/ a 98 mustang gt 5spd just put nittos on his stock 17" rims and he said it feels like he's driving an entirely new car...this is what i want...the potenzas suck as far as grip goes and i need something much grippier

the plus side to the potenzas is that i have learned how to drift...its a lot of fun if you haven't tried it...the best is on a merge lane right turn while going about 60-80...f*cking fun...but of course i worked my way up from lower speeds and learned the car before i brought it up that high...and of course i check for traffic

alright, so tell me what the grippiest tires are that i can get...there are so many brands out there and i just want some feedback...i am looking for cornering ability...i hate the potenzas but don't have $3k to spend on new rims+tires right now

I have 235/45/ZR17 Pirelli P7000 SS, and they are Great. I got them from Tire Rack for 120. Awesome rain performance. Great traction. Good wear resistance. I'd Get the Pirelli's if I were you.

tires.com

Hey, check out tires.com (American Tire). They have locations all over SoCal. I got my Nitto 555's there, and their prices were pretty good. I found them to be extremely helpful. I got free standard roadhazard (the prorated kind), free tire repair, and free tire rotations. My car pulled a little after I got them, and he determined one of the tires was defective. After he isolated it, he got me a new tire and replaced it -- didn't give me any $hit about it.

The one I went to was on Torrance Blvd in the South Bay, but there's probably a location closer to you in OC. Or you can have the wheels delivered to your house if you wanted to do the install yourself. I'm really happy with them.
