Whenever I pull out I hear a creaking/tapping noise from the front left of my car. I've read earlier similiar posts and had the front left strut replaced. But I still get that annoying sound. The dealer can't find anything wrong even after 3 visits. I don't see any lubricant on my rims so it can't be a ripped CV boot. Anyone else have this problem?

Do you mean when you're making a tight turn? If so, it's probably a CV problem.

I had the same problem, only my problem was on the right side

the creacking noise is not because of the Strut, it is the Strut Mount, it has that rubber bushing on it and it rips and causes that creacking sound. My dealer replaced Strut Mount and it went away.

I always hear the noise in the first few feet of driving even after I've straightened out the wheel to move forward.

I wonder if...

... it has anything to do with the ABS self-test. The manual says you may hear a mechanical noise when you first drive the car, and it's a normal self-test procedure for the ABS. In fact, my old car's manual said that too and I never heard it, until one recent day it happened regularly, but then the ABS light went on and found out I had a bad speed sensor.

If it was the ABS wouldn't I hear the sound after I start the engine, not when I start moving? Also (correction) it is the right side not the left. Wouldn't the dealer replace the strut mount also when replacing the strut itself? Man my car has too many problems

Nope.. the abs conducts ANOTHER test once you reach a certain amount of mph... i dunno how much.. it's in the manual... or possibly someone else on this board could tell you..

you'll hear another noise when you start moving in gear. I usually hear it when backing up out of my driveway. That noise is normal and is less than a second. The noise is hard to explain, but it's quick. My Sentra with ABS used to do the same thing so I'm used to it, but it is alarming to hear until you realize what it is.
