I've noticed the faint whining on my car,(lasts about 2 or 3 seconds) but only in the morning when I'm backing out of my driveway. I've not heard it when I back out of my parking space at the end of the work day. Not sure why this is. The engine is cold both times, but it only happens in the morning. And I have not heard it when going forward with a cold engine, only reverse. I'm thinking it's just something "gettin' goin'" with the cold engine?? (My 93 Accord makes a louder whining, buzzing noise for a few seconds, with a cold engine, but that's the anti-lock brake system - and it's normal - according to the owners manual)

No 'gargle' noise at all. That's strange!!

There is a TSB for it.
I still need to take my car in and get it done. Last time I went, they said it is normal. Morons

Go to this site here: http://www.altimas.net/tsb/. Scroll down until you get to NTB02-084. This is the actual tsb. I have the same thing going on. Hope this helps...
