oxygen sensors

I have a 2001 Maxima GLE.

Ive read and searched but I want to know how many people have had their engine lights come on and then go to Nissan to have one of their oxygen sensors replaced and a few days later the engine light comes back on again?

It is one of the rear oxygen sensors that was replaced.

I read somewhere that both might need to be replaced and the ECU reprogrammed?

Is this true?

How many ppl have had this issue? and how did it get resolved?

thanks,
gmax

Re: oxygen sensors

I just had an oxygen sensor replaced about 2 or 3 weeks ago, but mine has been fine since.

ECM ???

No one else has had any problems with this, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I was looking at one of the service bulletins posted in this forum and it discussed the ECM and the number your ECM is.

How can one check the number your ECM is ???

I want to check this to see if my car is one of those cars that needs the computer reprogrammed and hve updated software added to it.

In some cases, just a reprogram of the ECU, will fix the problem. But, other times, we have to replace both oxygen sensors; to resolve the problem. If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me at Ray Brandt Answer Guys

Need help - pls

Hello, I have Nissan Maxima 2001 which has 56,000 miles.

I got check engine light ON and i took it to near dealer. They said DTC P0505 which is IACV-AAC VALVE --went with ECM. They replaced following parts 23781-2Y012 AND 2371-5Y006RE. After this they asked me to ride 100 miles, in order for readiness monitore to get reset. I drove the same and found the following not ready/reset.

1. Oxygen Sensor - NOT Ready
2. Catalyst - NOT Ready.

My dealer again asked me drive some more miles. I already drove 1500miles. Still it's not got READY/RESET. Because of this my state Inspection is getting FAIL. Now I am getting ticket from Cop. My dealer says he has no idea why it's not READY. He said need to call NISSAN help and find it out.

Can anyone help/throw some light on how to fix this..please.

It could very possibly true. The portion about the reflash (or reprogramming, whatever language you prefer) it is true.

I had the outputs from my secondaries and it seems within range but I still was getting P0430. I had two options: O2 sim or reflash and see what happens.

I had to chose the O2 Sim, because next sat it is my inspection and the dealer schedule was a little weird...

But the thing is: without O2 sim my O2s were still working fine, but the ECM was gimming an error. I do have a strong impression that if I had updated the ECM that it would solve my issue as well.

but then again, the O2 Sim is $30 and the reflash is $100.
