2k3 Max vs Jetta VR6

Well I know that this was not much of a kill, but the guy in the VW VR6 (Intake, Loud Exhaust of course) kept tempting me. My car has approx 550 miles so it is still in the break in period. But on Saturday while on Rt46 NJ going up a hill I see this red Jetta coming rapidly behind. I had my girl in the car and he pulled up next to me going nose to nose reving his engine. I look at my girl and started laughing I was on 5th gear (up the hill). He floors it and I dropped down to 4th keep in mind that I was crusing and he was already gone, we had about 1/4 a mile before the road came to one lane, anyway I floored it and passed him like a bat out of hell right before the lane closed. I waved at him (his girl in the car also) and he gave me the good old finger and 100mph drive by as I was turning off my road.

Re: 2k3 Max vs Jetta VR6

I know, I love waving at people as I pull pass them

I raced this Audi TT 225hp one on the highway. He jumped first, I went to 4th and started gaining on him right away and by 100 I was passing him. As I am passing him I give him a nice wave and pull till 120mph, then I slowed down and he goes flying by at like 120+.

I bet the wave that I gave him really ****ed him off

I was in the Mine Hill area of Morris County.

The guy must have been soo embarrased since his girl was in the car and then I waved at him, but the way I look at it is if you want to race and the other person wins, why be a D!*K about it, you agreeded to race.

those TT guys with the 225hp are probably ****ed off that a 30k car beats their 36k Audi that weighs a lot less

It actually weighs pretty close I think, but not sure.
But I am sure the driver of TT was upset that his "Sports Car" can't keep up.

It is a good car though. My friend was choosing between a TT 225hp or 350Z.
He got Z, much better deal.

Good kill!! I just burnt a VR6 Jetta last week on Route 1 North (Edison, NJ) from a stoplight. I even let him get the jump (at launch) just to see what his intentions were; once I saw he wanted to run, I was more than happy to hand his **** to him. My man couldn't crunch those gears hard enough.

My angle on VWs is that unless they're modded, they'll stand NO chance against a 2K2/3 Maxima.

I know the exact hill you were climbing--I used to live in Mine Hill! Careful on that hill because the cops in Mine Hill are not to forgiving to speeders...

You are soo right, once the lane closed and become one, there was a cop sitting on the left as soon as I started going down the hill. Where do you live now?

Frankly, I think I wasted my gas, and I have to pick and choose on who I am going to race, like this morning a Civic (seemed stock) wanted to race, a Camry (huge wing, purple lights, and a busted body kit) wanted to race. But gas price is becoming expensive that I really do have to pick and choose.

Some guys buy Jettas with the VR6 and think they are getting a lightweight car with lots of V6 power. What they don't realize is that a VR6 Jetta weighs more than a Max.

Curb weight of Jetta GLX VR6 is 3,263 lbs vs Max 3,261 lbs. Both are automatics (you can't get a manual in the VR6 - only the seq. sportshift).

And the Max has a better turning radius (WHAT!). We complain about this all the time but this proves it could be worse:

Jetta 17.9 feet to Max 17.7 feet. There is a drawback for fat tires for everyone, including us.

Given our huge power and torque advantage, there should never be a doubt who will come out in front.

I raced one, but I think it was Auto, I had about 3-4 cars on him by 80mph.
If it was 5-speed it should have been closer.

I couldn't agree with you more. I am soooo tempted to floor it. But I only have 400km on it. I got it last Thursday! Chrome Silver, Canadian spec = fully loaded. The funny thing is, I went back to drive my 2k1 SR20 Sentra today, and it felt more nimble for some reason. I knew the SR20 is a good car. But I KNOW its brother is a better one! It just feels more refined.

Well I have a 93 Se-R (SR20DE) and my car does pull great, but the clutch is harder to engage than the Max since it is hydraulic. But I still love my Se-R, I was thinking of selling it though. My girl also has a 2002 Se-R and let me tell you that thing pulls like crazy.

As for my milage I have about 350 miles to go again until 1K.
