cutting maxspeeds????

All I can tell you is that they fit just right. I have no clearnace problems or rubbing. If you do take it off the front only . You would be riding a bit too low if you did front and rear. The front has 2 dead coils if i'm not mistakened....

Never cut springs. It will cause the spring to make a poping sound when you hit a bump. Cutting springs are a cheap way to drop your car. Don't be ghetto with a Max. It makes us all look bad.

I belive that springs are not intended to be cut. When u cut them they will bounce very bad. That is why u see all those ricer hondas bouncing so bad they can barley stay on the road. I could be wrong, please correct me if so. Please do not cut your springs.

I know these springs aren't meant to be cut, but I had my installer cut the dead coils on my Maxspeeds. They were installed with the stock SE struts and haven't had any noises, bouncing or problems after 8-10k with them on. This will probably wear the shocks quicker, but those will be getting replaced next summer.

I just put MaxSpeed springs and Tokico struts on last week and I love the ride. I really don't remember seeing any dead coils on the fronts. I am probably wrong, though. Any chance someone could possibly explain what the dead coils are and how you can distinguish them from the live coils. If you look at a maxspeed front spring for a 5th. Gen it looks way shorter than the stock spring and all of the coils appear to have the same daimeter and spacing between them.

Here is the technical explaination for not cutting the coil.
If you cut the coil, you will increase the spring rate, so you will have a much harder ride. How hard?, It is impossible to say. The coil spring is nothing more than a torsion bar all coiled up. The spring rate is based on the entire length of the spring (like if you "unrolled" it). By shortening the length, you make it harder to "twist" the bar.

2k2max, if you want to see the results, you can check my homepage, but if you want to see the portions that were cut off, I can post those also.

anthony (ny96max) cut his H&R's and the ride is the same as it was before.. when i get kyb agx's i want to have my front springs cut to even the drop out a little bit. the front is like a 3 finger and the rear is 2, i was it to be 2 all around. sometimes it looks like i have too much weight in my trunk
not to mention if youre on a hill with the front facing up, it makes it even worse

Im not some moron firing off BS. I have spoken to a lot of Max owners. Hoon, " IRVINE78 " , did it on his Max and got great results. His Max looks PHAT ! I wont do it, because I want to go with 255's all around, and I usually ride with 4-5 ***** in my whip... I need to clear those bumps...
Look ay Irvine78's car.. thats the way a lowered Max should sit !

I would just use a die grinder--air powered of course. That way could just take a little at a time until just right.
