INJEN CAI & AEM air bypass valve
INJEN CAI & AEM air bypass valve
I just bought an Injen CAI for my 2002 Maxima SE 6speed. It is part #RD1940P. I live in Seattle, where it rains ALOT! So I wanted to invest in an AEM air bypass valve. I've heard that it will fit the Injen.
Does anyone know what DIAMETER bypass valve I will need? Also, does anybody know which part # (or #'s) too? I know there was a recall on some of their older ones, so I want to make sure I get the right (best) one!
Thanks for the help!

I have that intake on my max w/ the bypass valve. The bypass valve needs to be 3" in diameter. You can find the part # on adventon.com. As far as the recall is concerned, AEM did they recall because the valves were falling apart and getting sucked in. Just make sure that you get one that was manufactured 1/1/2002 or later. The box should be stamped w/ the manufactured date on it. I did a lot of research on this before I bought mine. You're gonna love the intake.

[B]Thanks for the info. Does AEM make different models of air bypass valves in the 3" size? I ask because I've seem a couple different styles...
There should only be one model for each diameter. At least that's how it was a month ago when I was researching it.

How good does this air bypass valve thing actually work? I live in a town known as the rainiest city in the US. We easily get almost 200+ inches of rain/year. The worst was a few years ago when we had a storm (not hurricane/tornado) just a storm, and we got 24" or rain in 24 hours!
So, I guess if anyone has actual real world experience, please let me know.

I think I have figured out the answer. I've been told the diamater of the Injen CAI is 3" for my car. So the AEM bypass valve part # for that is: 20-403S
The bypass valve allows air to still get into your engine (and keep from stalling out), if the filter somehow gets submerged in water. Most likely it won't happen anyways, but it rains so much here, I just want the peace of mind.

Doesn't Injen CAI's filter end up like 2 feet above ground?? Why should people worried about water getting in there? The filter is no where near the ground. After I was done installing the intake, I thought it should go down further to get some of that "cold" air. it is not even blow the fan! or did i mess up on my installation??
