Best brake caliper paint

What's the best brake caliper paint - VHT, G2, or Foliatec?

Even though my brakes aren't painted, I plan on painting them silver shortley and I will be ordering the Foliatec brake caliper painting kit b/c i've seen tons of people with that brand, and not one of them has ever posted a complaint about the output.

Yeah, what he said. I have the stuff and it's been plenty good for more than a year now.

Well if you look at the science of it, FoliaTec is the best because you actually brush it on and get it on there good. Plus it is a harder/thicker coat.

Yes I got the VHT on mine, but I have had it on for 9months and have not seen a sign of peeling except when the mechanic knicked the caliper while sticking the wheel back on.

Big difference in price also. A can of VHT is $6. A kit of Foliatec or G2 is $40!

Save your money. Trust me on this. I had the Foliatec for 6 months. It chipped like crazy. I redid it 3 times during that time period, but it kept doing it.

I bought the cheap $6 spray stuff at Pep Boys. I put on a glove and sprayed it into a paint can and brushed it on. I also sprayed over the fat areas on the calipers that could easily be hit. The stuff is rock solid and hasn't budged.

Don't be ghetto and paint the back of the pad too. Brush it on. It will look 1000 times better.

Special edition Mustangs and AMG Mercedes have their calipers engraved like that. I don't think these would look too good on a Maxima though.

I'm thinking brushing the paint on is better than spraying it.

If you care about the output, then paint it with a brush so you actualy see what parts you're painting. Spray painting is for people that are lazy

How long does caliper paint usually last? Why can't you just paint the calipers with car paint? Like take it to a body shop and have them paint it. Thanks.

I bought some G2. Got it today. Comes with everything and it's made in the US! Too bad it's too cold to put it on! I'll let you know how it is.

white on white?

what do you guys think of white calipers on a white max?? i've been mulling this over the last few days and would like some outside opinions.. i think it'd be less agressive than say red or yellow, and more noticible than silver.. any opinions?

No offense asu but you haven't had much luck installing anything. Maybe putting all the coats on just wrecked the paint and it chipped cause it was so thick. It's different stuff than spray paint.

Anybody know what brand I should buy, to get a bronze color? I want to get something like the bronze color on Skyline brake calipers...

And aren't Foliatec and G2 kits one and the same?

The ONLY luck I have had is with the spray stuff. And I didn't spray it on. I sprayed it in the can and brushed it on with an artistic paint brush. It was much easier to work with.

I think Southwest Autoworks has the G2 kit for like $36.95 + s/h.

I'm looking for a specific color, unfortuanately G2 and Foliatec only offer a very narrow selection. I'll be doing this mod in a couple weeks, will post pics when done!
