Second Fuel Tank?

How would I put a second fuel tank in my 2k max? I will put the extra tank in my trunk. Has anybody ever done this or know how I could acomplish this?

Yea they sell those cool plastic red cans that have a spout and everything! Honestly I have no idea how you would do that without making it more dangerous. Out of curiosity....why?

Why would you want to put an extra tank in the trunk? First off there is a major safety issue there when you get into an accident. And secondly, you trying to run the cross-country derby?

unless you live in the DC area and are afraid to stop and buy gas I don't understand this idea. We have big tanks and our cars get 21-28 mpg.

Look at some Australian web sites. They do it all the time over there... use LPG and gas in the trunk.

I live in the DC area and get 360-375miles per tank on a fully modded car so far.

Maybe that is because there aren't too many Chevrons in the Outback.

Dude where you driving, across the mohaje desert or something, stop by a gas station and fill up. Tank in the trunk = NO GOOD. Look at a pinto, they friggen exploded during rear impacts. LOL

you could extend the tank to inside the car and take up the most of the driving compartment.

The trunk @ 15 cu.ft. = 112 gal
Take 3/4 of the passenger = +- 75 cu.ft = 561 gal
Stock tank = 18 gal
Grand total = 691 gal

@ 24mpg = 16584 miles, nearly 2/3 around the earth! If only they made a station, we could get that other 1/3.

Take out the benches, seat, center console, glove box and it just might be do-able.

Sorry I haven't responded to this, I have been working to much. Anyway the reason I was wondering is because I am thinking about entering a cannonball run. Its in the works not a deffenite yet. I just put this question out to see how hard it would be, if it would be worth it. I spaced the saftey issue, that might be a good reason not to do it.

Good luck in a Max! You should seriously consider the ambulance or maybe the toxic work crew approach, it's worked well in the past.
