Rearview Mirror Vibrating

After the installation of my subs, my rearview mirror vibrates and incredible amount. It is no longer functional when my subs are hitting. The side mirrors don't vibrate hardly at all, but the rearview one distorts everything. I took my car to the dealership and they said to tighten the key on the base of the mirror but that didn't help as it was already tight. Would dynamat help at all? Thanks!

In short, most likely not. You may need a whole new (possibly non-OEM) mirror installed.

That kind of vibration (since you have already made sure of the one fastening point) can be addressed through turning the radio down or reducing the bass.

LoL. No amount of vibrating will cause me to turn down my subs! Non-oem mirror maybe i'll just learn to deal with the vibrating.

Have you ever had subs before? Every vehicle I've ever had vibrated the mirror(s) so much that I couldn't see. Not much you can do about it when you want to 'feel' your music. You see that mirror vibrating....now imagine your eardrums!

As this is my first car and I have had my license for 2 months, I have never owned another car with subs, but many of my friends have them and their mirror doesn't rattle HALF as much as mine does. When the subs hit, lights in the mirror turn to circles as the vibrations distort the image. I don't expect to have 0 vibration in my mirror, but there must be a better way to make it better than it is.

Some of it depends on how solid your box is constructed. ...and how much vibration it is transmitting to the chassis. The max does tend to vibrate a little more than some. I guess it's something we just have to live with.

I'm not sure how the 2k1's mirrors are, as I have never ridden in a 2k1, but if they have the same mirror as the 2k2's, which I figure they do, then I'm wondering if he has a problem with the vibrating of the mirror, or the rattling of the mirror. You are correct in saying that with the bass turned up, you can't do anything about the vibrating mirror, but I'm thinking that something can be done about the rattling. As previously stated, I agree that a non OEM mirror that is one piece (doesn't have the electronics inside for the auto dimming) would only vibrate, and not rattle like mine does. Can anyone confirm/disprove this theory?

I had the plain mirror that did not shake, then I installed an OEM auto-dimming one and it shakes.
