Made it to the dealer with 35,998 on the odo! (long)
Well, on Sunday night I was driving home from work and my SES light came on and I was like oh, sh*t. I had just put my Injen CAI on a week before, so I thought that maybe that was the problem. Well I got home and parked it in the garage with 35,980 miles on it.
On Monday, my buddy Russ and I went to Autozone and had them scan my ECU to see what the problem was. It came up with a code that was manufacturer specific so he said I had to go to the dealer. The reason that I didn't go to the dealer in the first place was because I thought they would say something about my intake being the reason why my SES light came on. And after all I went through to put on my intake, I really didn't want to have to take it off and put all the stock intake components on. But now I was left with no choice.
We decided to go to the dealer and Russ said there was one near by. We went in and I asked the service guy if he could tell me what this code I got from having the car scanned at Autozone meant. He said that he couldn't do that and I would have to schedule an appointment to have it checked out. Well I told him that I only have like 2 miles left on my warranty and he said that if I wanted to wait a few minutes, they could check it out. I was lucky that they weren't really busy. I was hoping that they would just hook up the scanner to the port under the dash and that they wouldn't have to look under the hood. But they did. Then they guy brought like 3 other guys to look at my car. I was all worried at that point. Suprisingly they didn't say a word about my mods at all.
While they were working on that, me and my buddy Russ were walking around the service garage. They had a pretty sweet modded 300ZX TT and they guy said that the engine got blown up. It was pretty cool how we got to walk around the garage and look at all the stuff they had there. They didn't even say anything to us. Then we went to look at the black 350Z in the back of the building. It was awesome! Brembo brakes, 18"s and all.
Well they finally finished looking at my Max and moved it out of the garage. They service guy said that I needed to have all my ignition coils replaced. He said that I was lucky to have just made it in, referring to my mileage. (35,998). They have to order the parts and I'll be getting it fixed sometime this week.
I guess I got lucky. I'm sure that it would've cost me a lotta $$ if I had to pay for it myself.
EDIT: The dealer is North Coast Nissan of Middleburgh Heights, OH
