Power window problem

The Passenger window on my 2002 Maxima (34,000) miles goes completely up and then it goes donw about 5 inches. The delaer has clean the track twice with no luck.

He has now ordered a new motor for it. Is this a common problem?

Same exact problem happened to both my passenger and driver side windows on my 2k1. Dealer cleaned the channels twice, and it still did it. Changed the motors and it worked fine. All under warranty.

Also, I think I read in another thread that people experienced this sort of problem after tinting windows, you might want to search for that one. Good luck fixing your problem.

You are talking about when you use the one-touch up right? I have that on my car (only the passenger window though...weird!). This started after I put window visors (like Ventshades) on my windows. This happened for a while, and once the visor was settled in, the problem went away. I have also had my windows tinted and this did not have any affect on the window movement.

The reason I mention this is because the one-touch up has a safety feature, where it will automatically move back down if any obstruction is encountered. In my case, the visor was an obstruction, and the window automatically reversed direction and dropped to about 5" open. I was then able to manually close the window the rest of the way.

My passenger window is problematic, as well. My driver window makes some disturbing grinds here and there, but the pace is fine. However, the passenger window leads me to believe that it's only a matter of time before the motor blows and I'm left with my cheese in the wind.

Incidentally, it's sure annoying having a nice car and having things such as this for my passengers to critisize. I'm currently awaiting the arrival of a new sunglasses housing too. Let me tell you just how schweet my interior looks with a broken housing on display in my ceiling. Oh... My brakes have been squeeking for about a year now too. Lame! Please send money...
