Cracked Rotors

I dropped my 2002 Max off this morning at the nissan dealer for the transverse link recall, the wind noise TSB, and a very slight vibration that occurred while I was braking.
Much to my suprise the dealer called me and said the front rotors are cracked. Not warped, cracked??? Also the front brake pads are at less than 50%. The car has 19000 miles on it. Most of the driving is done on the freeway.
Is this normal for the 2002 Max???
I had a 95 Max and I went nearly 100,000 miles before it needed brakes, and of course the rotors never cracked, warped, etc??
What gives?

Also for those interested the rear window TSB nearly eliminated the windnoise. Between the dynamat, foam insulation, and the TSB fix the car is very quite!!!!

I would say u just unfortunatly got the bad quality rotors.....but u have it fixed under warranty. Dealer has to cover everything within a year, even alignment.

Yea, luckily... They of course will not cover the new pads ($50), but will do the labor for free since they are installing new rotors on Friday.
Funny, this vibration was VERY slight (and not all the time), I just decided to have it checked since it was going in anyway. If you are under warranty and have any even slight vibration I would take it in before the warranty expires and have it checked!!

np, the reason is : first year....even wear and tear items are covered and it shouldnt develop any problem this early. I think it is covered by law..but I forgot which one.

when I asked them to do my alignment, the service rep couldnt believe her ears and then she came back with a smile face after she confirmed with her manager.

Magnuson-Moss Act

Your pads are covered too up to 12k/12mo unless they can prove abuse.

It is a "which ever is last" warranty?

He states his car has 19k on it...

So by the spirit of the law, the pads are not covered?

right... I need to actually start *reading* posts. I think #2 made me think the car was newer. Yeah, they have you on the mileage. Of course I just got free pads at 35. 5 months and 35960 miles, so I think he should too

Everyone does it. Just thought I might have not understood the warranty.

Thanks for all the input, it helped clear things up. I gonna continue to push them to replace the pads no charge!! There is no way I should have less than 50%, when probably 15000 of the 19000 miles have been freeway. Not stop and go freeway, there is little traffic on my way to work...
Thanks again!!
