My poor rim!

Hello all,

yesterday in this pouring rain, I had to park my car on the street cause my dad's friend was taking up the driveway. I went to park on the street and I usually park it close enough to the curb. Well with the rain and all, I went TOO close to the curb and smacked my stock rim into the curb. I took a peek at the rim and its scuffed up pretty bad, about 3 inches or so of scuff on my rim. Any suggestions on how to get it out? I know some of you will tell me to get 4 new rims, but thats not an option for me right now. Help!

btw, I'm located on Long Island, NY

Andy

Feel your pain

My girlfriend called me while I was out of town and told me that she "slightly" rubbed one of my still new MM 18s. Well I get back and there a ****** scrape for 90 plus degrees of freakin rotation!! To beat that, the damn thing vibrates at certain speeds so I went to have it balanced...and my beautiful rim is BENT!! and can't be balanced. WTF can I do...somebody give me some good news before I go out and load up the 9-double and wreck shop!!! I am NOT a happy camper!!!!!!

Looks like a lot of people are having rim problems. Here's my story. It was a rainy night, I was just crusin down they street at excatly 35 mph. I went thru an intersection and made sure I wasn't speeding b/c there is a cop in the pizza shop parking lot on they corner of the intersection. Then it happens.. I hit a pot hole. Tires go flat. I get out and both rims on the right side of my car are bent. I drive back carefully to the gas station across from the pizza shop, park car, and look at pot hole. Its a perfet square about 2ft by 1-1/2ft, and is about 8in deep. I go over to Cop and he says he saw the whole thing. He give me his card and advised me to call my insurance and file a claim and give them his name. I managed to drive my car home, good thing accident only happened about 4 blcks from my house, and changed all wheels back to factory.. Next day the hole is filled in and insurance company looks at tires and says they will order me 2 new ones.. Only good thing about it is that with my factory wheels my car feels faster. I've never driven my care on factory wheels with the intake in.. Sorry for the long story and hope everything goes well...

you can actually have the city pay for your rims more often than one would think. ADOT and the company that paves the roads are responsible to make the roads safe to all who use it for transportation. Unless there is a sign indicating that there is a pothole, if you find one and it bends a rim or blows a tire or worse those companies would be held responsible. I remember reading an article once of someone who was traveling on the freeway or highway somewhere and they hit a pothole at 60mph, their tire blew, and they lost control of the vehicle ending up in a 3 car accident. Those companies got a huge lawsuit put in their hands as the roads were not maintained to a safe level.
