Does the switch under the hood activate the alarm if someone tries to open the hood while the alarm is armed? I hear a lot about HID's being stollen and I am wondering how come the alarm did not activate?

 

Yes, the alarm goes off when it is opened properly. I released the hood before i put on the alarm, then i activated the alarm, and opened the hood and the alarm went off. It was loud and scary! If they pry up the hood though, i'm not sure if it will go off.

 

the thieves have a way of clipping that.. they go in thru the grill. You should have an aftermarket alarm AND another hood pin.

 

Good idea! Where to get a second hood pin??

 

Lets get some people on here that is familiar with the electrical system of the Max's and the alarm. I will be putting a shock sensor on my Max very soon, hopefully this should help some. I would also like to do a second Hood pin and maybe wire in the parallel with the existing, but not at the harness point, since the thieves cut it off from there. What do you all think?

 

i have an aftermarket alarm(compustar) w/ dual stage shock sensor and if u hit or tap the hid housing, it beeps for warning and if u open the hood, it will go off...
