What ALL has to be done to the engine in order to supercharge it and what is the general cost of doing this? how much hp gain do you get? 0-60 time? smoke em' well? :-)

depends

if your boosting real low, then nothing. but spark plug, is a good place to start, head gasket goes next. then blah blah blah.. kevin should know since jane has a supercharger. but i always remembered the thing as a bolt on mod. i could be wrong.. all i know is i want one.. reallllll bad.. but not as bad as horns and mid bass.

If you have an auto, PLEASE get the valvebody. With the boost from the SC ~6, nothing has to be done to the engine. If you are looking for higher boost, get your internals done (ask 4th gen guys).

Pardon my ignorance but...

If you get a SC it replaces whatever intake you currently have correct? I am thinking about getting a SC some time down the road and don't want to do anything else to my intake (I currently have a JWT popcharger) if that is the case.

The 2K SC is unique because it has this CAI-like intake. Instead of having a small filter next to the SC like a 4th gen, ours has a tube that goes across the engine bay and down near the tranny. This way, it doesn't suck up the warm engine air at the top.

That was a bit OT, but yes, the SC filter will replace your JWT.

Supercharging a 2K Max

I have a supercharged 2K max. My SE max is an automatic so I had to upgrade my valve body, add a Hayden tranny cooler, and got the newly reprogramed TCU installed by Nissan. Now my auto 2K CAN handle the power output generated by the SCer which is 317 hp and 272 ft-lb torque which translated to 250 FWHP and 217 FWTORQUE. Cost of SCer from Stillen last March was $3350.00 and the install ran me $1400.00 with Greddy boost gauge and A-pillar mount. The tranny work cost me $850.00 for parts, fluids, and installation. I haven't taken my car to the track yet b/c the temperature here in Texas is anywhere between 100-110 F, so I'm waiting for some cooler weather to see what my 1/4 mile times will be. I can tell you that it is FAST and I've surprised quite a few guys on the road. Just a friendly warning though, the SCer does come with its share of headaches (constant monitoring and fine tuning), but it is a blast to drive. I've done nothing else to my engine.

Wowzers!! What about wear on the car?

317hp!! nice!! What does this do to the life of the car (assuming I get the VB mod and the tranny cooler)?

It'll last longer with the VB and cooler. Highly suggested/recommended BEFORE you get the SC.

Hey Diederik... what kind of tranny mods did you do? I don't remember hearing about that. Could you give us some info please? Thanks in advance!

Wow, looks very nice, Dman !!!

Please let us know how much the SC improves the car's acceleration after you take it to the track, i'm sure lots of people are interested (i'm one of them).

I'm saving my money for one....don't know when that's gonna be though...

I had Don in Texas upgrade the valve body, add a Hayden Tranny cooler, Redline Synthetic tranny fluid, and had Nissan replace the TCU. It made a world of difference and yes I TOTALLY agree with your comment about getting all the transmission work done BEFORE supercharging the car.
