Anyone know reason for no 5th gen ECU?
if im understanding correctly, its because Nissan hasnt released the programming code for it? Any speculations as to why Nissan is being 'secretive' about it?

No one has spent the time to reverse engineer the ECU. With the right tools and a ECU it could be figured. Companies see it as not being able the reap profits vs their time for R&D for the maxima ECU.
The easy way is for someone from nismo or nissan engineering dept to drop us a white sheet on the ECU.
I wonder if DaveB could help us on the down low.

that doesnt make sense tho, even if not for teh VQ30DE-K, why arent we seeing anything for 2k2 Altima, 2k2 Maxima, G35, 350Z, G35Coupe etc etc they use same motor, and im 99% sure same ECU. I think thats enough market to justify making an ECU. Thats why i was under the impression that Nissan hasnt released the programmming codes, so no one really knows HOW to make one.

if you check the bmw and honda communities.. it is because OBDII is much harder to get through than OBDI.
More emissons restrictions and such... also the guys running GOOD upgraded/new OBDII/97+ ecu's are paying close to $1300 for them

Here's the real answer. In order to make an ECU you would need to have it work for multiple models. Go on carparts and look at how many ECUs there are for the 5th gen, there are 20+ different ones and the money needed to fish through all that and make a few that cover most models would be prohibitive compared to the expected income... That and it probably wouldn't help much for the price.

350z gets all the attention. i wonder if the ECU could be altered to work on a 2k2 maxima. enjoy!
