Speed Addiction 2K2 Y-Pipe is Complete!!!...Need to know who is interested?

Here's the whole deal:

First thanks to those who took the time to help me with their suggestions.

The pipe was made out of 2.5 inch stainless steel piping all the way from the connection at the precats to the connection to the catalytic convertor. All pics will be posted this weekend when I have access to a digital camera. From what I saw the pipe looks very well made.

Performance - I was ablew to drive around on both streets and highway for about 100 miles. There is definitely an increase in power across the entire powerband, I felt more however on the top end. The increase in power is definitely more noticable than any other mod I have done (intake, pulley, catback).

Sound - No increase in sound at idle. Slight increase during normal driving. Keep in mind I am still using my stock muffler on my custom catback. At WOT the car is definitley louder and with the intake the combination sounds amazing. I did notice however, the infamous hissing sound at WOT.

There were no issues (no Check engine Lights) just the fact that he said its a really tight fit because the new pipe is much larger. The piece of metal that covered the stock one can no longer be used because of the size.

What I have done is left him my stock y-pipe to use as a model. I have already arranged with another .org member (MaxSE2K) to do a before and after dyno. And this should be done be the end of next week.

I am trying to gauge the interest/demand for these and the seller has agreed to sell the first 10 for $240 plus shipping. After it will be $250 plus shipping. In addition the pipes will be warrantied. Since this is a local shop the pipes will be made as ordered. What I am trying to gauge for him is the number of inital orders.

Ok - here's my plan. I'm going into the shop either Friday evening, or Saturday morning for the before dyno. Assuming (stress assuming) I see the pipe Monday/Tuesday I'll install it that evening and try to get some good mileage on it before I dyno again the following Saturday (and maybe a trip to the track on Friday night).

Does it get rid of the pre-cats. VA's emissions is strict as crap. If it won't hurt my emissions, I'm in.

It did not touch the precats, they are still there. The pipe is a direct bot-on in place of the stock Y-pipe. It connects at the pre-cats on one end and to the catalytic converter on the other.

Hmm

I'm in pending dyno results, but I was really hoping to get a Y-pipe without the hissing noise. Is this going to be corrected?

the hissing will noise will not be heard, if you have a catback right? the throaty sound will just cover the hissing noise?

I only hear the hissing noise at WOT and thats because I am listening for it. If you have a catback I dont think you will hear it. If someone knows what is creating this noise and knows how it can be eliminated that would be help.

I'm in after pics and dyno.

I plan on keeping the stock exhaust so it would be nice if someone knew how to get rid of the hissing noise.

Also shouldn't the price go down after 10 orders, instead of going up $10??

Once we get the dyno done and we are all satisfied with the results I am sure I can work with him on the price.

I think if you wrap the flex section with (i forget what's it's called...y2kevse had it wrapped around his SC's piping)

the sound is greatly diminished.

Y2kevSE can you confirm this?

header wrap is good for reducing noise and keeping some heat out, but the problem is that it traps heat in. there have been quite a few flex joints that have failed and one possible reason could be heat. the other reason it could fail i would think would be movement when the engine rocks back pushes on the pipe. im debating on whether to wrap my flex joint to cut down on noise. sorry to throw this in the thread but i thought it would be relevant.

If there are issues that the header wrap may crack flex joints I dont think he will wrap them. That will probably be up to you to do on your own.
