Pics of what may be the 6th gen (not Brian's photo's)

phattyaltnatl just posted this in the 6th gen thread but i thought this was worth mentioning in it's own thread.

There's info posted over at Altimas.net on what looks and may be the 6th gen Maxima. If you'll look closely it resembles those photo's taken by BrianV a while back.

I find it humorous that Brian V's pictures have been posted so many times that you have to provide a disclaimer in the thread title

Great find soundmike!

The exterior is BORING looking... I hope they give it a sportier exterior...not that I would buy one anyway...It will probably have that "wonderful" Nissan paint... I'm getting something else when the time comes to buy a new car.

I like it...makes me wish I waited an extra year to get a Maxima. It appears to have a sequential transmission.

trade in?? maybe...5% chance

HAS to be a concept car. Look at the lighting... the reclining passenger seat... and the short Japanese guy standing next to it onstage! What car show was this from? IMO, it's probably a "near-production" model depicting the luxury level of the next high-end Infinity.

He's not Japanese. He's from South America... Carlos Ghoshn(SP?)

You are a winnar. Like Wonton said, its Charles Ghosn...the guy that fixed Renault and soon after brought Nissan back up.

Ahhh... AznWontonboy and Ludacris... thanks for the correction. Still looks Infinity-bound to me though.

Nissan Teana

This is a new Japanese market model.
Although the Teana name has been copyrighted by Nissan in North America, my guess is it may be imported as the next I35. Max probably shares some elements.

"Also, I just found out that the engines offered in the new Teana will range from a 2.3 liter version to a 3.5 liter version. This according to Japan's Kyodo News. It will go on sale in Nissan's "Blue Stage" dealerships in February "

The only official information I've been able to get on the Teana comes from Carlos Ghosn himself. Here's a quote from his speech in Japan:

"To give you a glimpse of yet another example of the "revived" Nissan, I would like to introduce another addition to our product lineup. I mentioned earlier that we have unveiled six new models globally since the start of this fiscal year. Please direct your attention to the new Nissan Teana.

The Teana is a new luxury sedan designed for Japan and Asian markets. This car reflects a contemporary Japanese DNA, balancing comfort and dynamism. We will share more details about the Teana when sales begin February of next year."

i read somewhere that the I35 will not be produced/offered after this year due to infinity wanting to move to an all rear wheel drive line up

Anyone else see the Volvo S80 resemblance in the rear flanks. I hope it's not the Maxima. It looks way too much like the Altima. That wouldn't be a bad thing, if we didn't already have an Altima. Maybe they are trying to expand the Altima platform and use it in Japan. You may just be looking at an American Import. I know the Altima platform is the basis for the next Maxima, but I would hope they would make them more different (i.e. 2002 Accord/3.2TL).

ummmm...

I don't think them recliner seats will hold you in very well when you are doing twice the posted speed on a transition onramp. Why have such things in a "sports" sedan?...

This car looks like the Altima and the G35 got busy in the broom closet w/o protection. Anyway I believe the Max I have now is going to be my last. Although you can't beat the price of the Maxima in terms of what you are getting, it's time for me to move on. I'm sure the next Max will have the award winning VQ as previous year but Nissan have to get their act together (e.g. Paint, Handling, Looks, SERVICE). I have two years left on the lease, which I don't think I am going to finish before trading up. If these pics are a sign of things to come I'm really not going to even consider another Max.

...nissan screwed up again.

the 4th gens had a somewhat aggressive front end, and pretty uneventful taillamps.

5th gens got a more aggressive front end, but a hideous taillamp design.

now, the pics of the "6gen" show a relatively nice taillamp design and a hideous front end.

From the side it looks like an Altima\G35 mix. Headlamps are ugly. What's with the big eye look?
Also, like someone said, those seats will not hold you in place for any kind of spirited driving except in a straight. No side bolsters?? I guess it fits in with the 6th gen Maxima becoming a bigger luxury sedan and less of a sport sedan.

I don't think it will be RWD because they should stay away from the infiniti models so they don't have competition. It will stay FWD..that's my predicition.

A big F U to all the 5th gen haters. Its very different and aggressive from front to back. I sold my 4th gen to get the 5TH. The 6th gen is another story.

Say bye bye to "sporty" sedan.

The interior looks really nice though. Very BMW like. The interior space looks gigantic. Looks like an Altima and a Lexus LS series combined. It looks alright, Nissan needs to go back to 3rd gen type styling. What's up with that one picture where it has no wheels or tires?

FWD....has to be if it based on the Alty platform. You can also see the hump between the rear seat - it not tall enough to suggest rear wheel drive. There is a remote chance for AWD but very unlikely.

If the next Max will look like this, then, this was a once and ONLY Nissan purchase. If I wanted a Cheesey looking Alty, I would have bought one. I was expecting something more in the Sporty Sedan look... G35'ish.. so far every picture I've seen makes the next Max look like it should be in the Geriatric unit... Im happy I got the 2K2.. Might be the last TRUE sporty sedan Nissan cranks out !

Time to visit BMW and Benzo !

Well Caddy Deville's are FWD, suprising huh?
Thgey're turning radius has to be like 70in or something.
Some how I doubt Nissan will offer AWD on the 2k4 Maxima. Mainly because we're not their target demographic.....BooHoo
It most likely going to an uninspired FWD poo-bow. Please Nissan prove me wrong!
