Possible Gas Mileage Fix
#1
I have seen the many posts about poor fuel economy, the range of results is pretty wide, and generally quite at odds with my 24/30 results. I notice that there is a driving proceedure in the manual, p10-20/21 for setting the computer in ready to test mode. This might be necessary to get the car to work right. As they say, normal driving might do the job, but not for sure. It is conceivable that a car which never got set properly would get very poor mileage (of course it could also run like a chipped car).

The Maxima is a "sports" sedan . . .
with the emphasis on "sports". If gas mileage is someone's chief concern, I'd recommend they purchase a "family" sedan instead.
PS: I try to keep my Maxima above 2000 rpm at all times. I also regularly exceed the speed limit (but never dangerously so). And if I accelerated using the "raw egg" method, I'd have a souffle on my floorboard by now. Guess we know what kind of gas mileage I'm getting.
